Rarely I woke up relaxed. No screams, no tossed objects, no one hovering over me, no arguments. Just serene coldness and darkness envelop me. As I sit up in bed, the green hues engulfing me, I survey the room. Pansy still sleeps soundly. My gaze drifts to the corner desk, adorned with an array of alcohol bottles. I simply observe. Should I take it? With a sigh, I seize one of the bottles and swiftly down its contents, embracing the fiery trail that courses down my throat. Setting the empty bottle back down on the desk.
"Early start, huh? Save some for tomorrow's party," Pansy remarks with a smile as she observes me.
Turning to her, I reply sheepishly, "Sorry." Not even hearing the party part.
She sighs and steps closer, resting her hands gently on my shoulders. "I know it's tough, but try to let go of Granger," she says softly, her eyes filled with understanding. "Besides, we've got a party to go to tomorrow."
"Party?" I raise an eyebrow, puzzled.
"Yep, it's in the common room, kicking off at 8 pm and wrapping up at 1 am," she chirps, her smile infectious. "You ought to doll yourself up. It's open to all houses, you know."
I exhale deeply, my gaze falling to the floor as I nibble on my lip, a whirlwind of thoughts racing through my mind, each one envisioning different outcome for the impending party. "I'll consider it," I murmur softly. "I'm also missing a dress for the party."
Pansy excitedly announces, "Hogsmeade trip today!" I simply giggle in response. She, along with everyone else, has been incredibly welcoming, despite my sudden intrusion into their lives.
As we prepared, Pansy glanced my way while I was fixing my tie. "That long skirt doesn't quite flatter your figure," she remarked, swiftly selecting another one and passing it to me. "This will suit you perfectly."
I examined the short skirt and then glanced at her. "Are you certain about this?"
"Absolutely, just try it on. You'll look stunning," she said, giggling as she rummaged through my collection of skirts.
"Okay," I replied somewhat hesitantly. After changing, I stepped out and examined myself in the mirror. Ok I actually like this. I grinned at my reflection as I twirled in front of the mirror.
"See?" she said, smiling at me.
"Alright, alright, you were right," I chuckled before stepping out of the dorm and heading down to the common room.
"Now that we're all here, let's head to breakfast before Princess Parkinson decides she needs something else," Draco quipped as he led the way out.
"Looks like we're off to Hogsmeade today, huh?" Mattheo smirked.
"Yeah, she still needs a dress for the party tomorrow," Pansy remarked, nodding in my direction.
"Works for us. A trip is a trip," Theo says with a chuckle as he takes a seat at the table in the Great Hall.
After a few laughs, I glance ahead and notice Hermione looking utterly worn-out, as if she's neglected basic self-care like eating and sleeping. Despite my concern, I suppress it and continue bantering with the guys. Today's classes dragged on monotonously, with Hermione notably absent-minded, failing to engage with any questions the teachers posed. She kept her head down for the remainder of the day, and although her demeanor troubled me, I choose to overlook it as the group shoots me menacing glances.
After class, I swiftly returned to the dorm to switch into casual attire before joining Pansy in the common room, where we awaited the boys' arrival.
"And then they say girls get ready too slow," Pansy chuckled and settled into the armchair, mirroring her position from the previous day.
