The Doctor's POV

I woke up to see Leyna crying with the book I got her open on her lap. Okay, the book is about me, but I only gave it to her so that it would explain the secrets I've been keeping from her. It's too much for me to say, but I didn't think she would cry when she read it.

It's about the Time War, about the decision I made that day, about all the children I killed. My own kind. It affected me so much, I didn't think it would do the same for her.

"Leyna," I wrapped my arms around her and hugged her, "everything will be okay. What I did that day.... it's unexplainable."

She looked up at me, confused, then read the back of the book. Wait, that means she didn't read the book. Then, why is she crying?

"Leyna? Why are you crying?" She quickly went to go close the book, but I noticed that there was a yellow sticky note that shouldn't of been there. Right before the book closed, I shoved my fingers in between the pages. She went to yank out the sticky note, but I was too quick.

"What's.... Bad Wolf. Leyna, where did you find this?" I asked her. Bad Wolf. Rose Tyler. The Moment. Same person. And she was looking at the moment, or the weapon, that I used to destroy my planet this morning. She went in that room full of the most valuable stuff to me, and the first thing she picked up was the weapon.

"Leyna, how many notes have you gotten?" I asked her, more sternly now. I must have gotten louder, too, because Jack woke up and popped his head up. He saw Leyna crying and must have thought that I did something wrong.

"Doctor, what's going on? Why is Leyna crying?" he asked me, standing up to show that he was taller, which means that he's stronger, which means that in a fight he would win. He didn't even have to stand up, though. He's immortal and I only asked a question.

"I've been getting these notes, from Bad Wolf and.." Leyna started.

"Wait, Bad Wolf? Doctor isn't that...?" Jack cut her off and asked. But I couldn't let him finish his second question. A lot has happened today and yesterday and Leyna might get really nervous or anxious.

So, I cut him off, "Yes. Now, Leyna, go on."

"So I got a lot of notes about different things, I found out about the Time War. I'm the reason they're all saved, Doctor."

"What do you mean 'all saved'? Gallifrey burned, no one survived", I reminded her. Everyone died. Nothing I could do.

"Doctor, you forgot. I almost forgot. But there's something different about me. I can remember. That's why the man in the window was there in the window. Because I remembered how he destroyed the world and how his wife killed him, but since you were there, that future changed and everyone forgot. But I remembered. Doctor, you saved Gallifrey, you only forgot", Leyna finished. There were dry tears on her cheeks.

"So, Gallifrey isn't a burned crisp?" I asked her. It was nice to feel hopeful for once. In this situation, I'm usually hopeless.

"Yeah, it's like the flowers you got me," she gestured over towards the counter, "alive and beautiful."

"Well, that's a nice simile, but I didn't give you those flowers. Captain Jack Harkness did."

"Well, that's a nice gesture, Mr. Spock, but I'm not taking the credit for some beautiful flowers that I didn't buy for this beautiful lady", Jack said, still managing to get some flirtatious words into the sentence.

"No, seriously, I didn't buy them", I told them as their faces turned grim.

"Doctor, pass me the blue tulips, please", Leyna asked me.

"I think I should check the blue tulips because when I first met you, you were holding a blue tulip, so those are the most important for me. Someone's trying to frame you, Doctor", Leyna informed me. I gave her the nice blue tulips and watched her face grow in horror as she read the card.

"What does it say?" I asked her. I watched more as Jack looked at the note. His face, too, grew in shock.

"Well?" I looked over and took the card out of her hands and read it. My eyes filled with tears.

"But, Leyna, this is a message from the master", I told her. It had to be. No one else would send something like this message.

Can you hear it?
That never-ending tapping?
The rhythm that ceases to protect ones sanity.
The sound of drums, crescendoing and threatening.
Here they come again.
Why don't you hear it?

No one would send something like that except the Master.

"The Master? Or the man in the window?" she asked.

Of course! She would only freak out because the Master was there.

"So, then who sent the flowers in today?" she looked at both of us.

"What do you mean?" Jack asked her.

"I got a new bouquet today. Doctor, what if the Master is following us?" she looked at me dead in the eyes. I could see the panic in hers and she most likely saw the panic in mine.

"Leyna, we're going to bring you back to Earth, put you in a hospital there, and lay low for a while. And don't worry, I know a great Doctor", I told her. Jack smiled knowing who I was talking about.

A/N

The message from the Master was part of a poem from @moonlightwaters Doctor Who poem book Volume one. The whole book is full of great poems and I think you should check them out. I'm also using another poem from that book in another upcoming chapter.
