Calem was destroyed.

I was worried that he would be overconfident and over reliant on his Mega Pokemons and my worries came true. Frostine countered all of his strategies perfectly as if she had been studying his battle style, very particular for a gym leader to do for a challenger. I suppose part of that comes from her history with Calem's father.

We went separate ways after Calem's gym battle. Kanae and I are going to Jacore Town for his Pokemon Contest while Lia and Calem are going to stay in Snowbelle City until Calem defeats Frostine.

"Don't go emo on me, 'kay?" I said to him while patting him on the shoulder. Calem looked to the side without responding. I shot Lia a worried glance which she returned.

If anyone is able to get that guy out of his spiral, it would be Lia. I gave the poor girl one last hug before leaving to find my brother.

A few hours later, we ended back at the Pokemon centre because Kanae decided it would be a good idea to pick a fight with a wild Abomasnow by himself.

I scrolled through Pokevision on my phone as Kanae waited for his Pokemons to get healed. "Maybe I should go find Lia and Calem..." I muttered.

As if on cue, Lia bursts into Pokémon Centre flailing her arms around in panic. She looked around and locked eyes with me, rushing over in an instant. "Thanks Arceus you're still here," she groaned, "Calem ran off by myself into the woods! I don't know what to do!"

I rolled my eyes. What is he, trying to recreate the trials and tribulations of his dad? "Calm down," I patted her shoulder, "that guy doesn't have the courage to run off far, chances are he's probably hiding in an empty tree trunk or something."

Lia puffed her cheeks, how adorable. She contemplated what to do for a second before grabbing my hands in determination. "I'm going to look for him," Lia said bravely, "it's no use for him to sulk off by himself, besides, two heads is always better than one."

And with that, the girl dashed out the door just as fast as she came in, leaving hanging by myself in an empty lobby. I shrugged my shoulders and checked the time before deciding to step out the door myself.

I should find out where he is at the very least.

"Calem! Where are you!" I yelled into the vast forest. I estimated that the sun wouldn't be going down for another hour or so, plenty of time to search for a moody teenager. Still, it pisses me off how good at hiding he is.

I sighed while remembering the childhood memories of the three of us playing hide and seek. Calem was so good at hiding to the point where me and my brother completely forgot about him and went home without him. Needless to say, Kanae and I got grounded for 2 weeks all thanks to him.

If spending the better part of my 15 years of life with him has taught me anything, it would be that Calem is someone who would run away and hide from his problems.

And darn he is good at hiding.

The sun was nearly down by the time I found him. Calem was sitting by himself in his hollowed tree, depressed and tired. He hugged his knees to his chest, I know it as a sign that he's anxious. He barely acknowledged me as I approached, not once lifting his head to meet my gaze.

"You're not special, you know," I said to him from outside the tree, "everyone experiences failure at some point in their life." I crossed my arms and sat down on the blanket of snow. Now at eye level, I expected Calem to finally look at me but he buried his head into his knees instead.

I scoffed in annoyance. "You're running away again, just like last time," Calem remained still, "do you want Lia to see you like this?" Although barely noticeable, I could tell that his hands twitched.
