"At least they could have washed this bunny suit. Or covered it in air freshener." Jom laughed.
"You're the one that wanted to do this. Luckily, the guy who wears this owes me a favor."
"Thank you again, Jom."
"Don't mention it. I'm glad I got to see you. I've been so busy these days I can barely sleep." I put on the bottom of the bunny suit. "We should get a beer or something while you're here."
"I stopped drinking two years ago, but I can always eat." I smiled at him and put on the bunny head. "I feel ridiculous. Does it look okay?"
"You look fine. Here. Grab the balloons. The ceremony is almost over so you just need to walk over to the main patio. Do you think you can do that without getting lost or falling on your face?"
"Ha. Ha. Yeah, I can manage. I'll see you later then." I waddled away. Suit is heavier than it looks.
"Bring it back here when you're done." I nodded even though he couldn't see my face.
Our eyes met...
For a split second, she saw past the cute bunny face and our eyes met. She looks even more beautiful than I remember. The old pictures I have on my private Instagram don't do her justice. It's taking every single ounce of restraint in me not to run over there and at least give her a hug and let her know I kept my promise. I saw P'Pure standing behind her smiling.
"I'll always love you, P'Gyo... I really hope he makes you happy." I smiled as tears rolled down my cheek. "Goodbye, P'Gyo."
I walked away. It felt like I got the closure I needed to move on. She has friends, family and P'Pure there to protect her now. She doesn't need me.
I bring the bunny suit back to the basketball court and text Jom to let him know it's there.
I walk down the halls of what used to be my campus. I remember every smile, every laugh, every moment of love that we shared. I remember the good times and the bad, but it no longer feels like a weight over my shoulder. I feel lighter for the first time in two years. I walked around looking at other couples imagining Gyo and Pure being like that. I just wish I had the chance to hug her one last time.
