irene was gone. just up and left. no note, no goodbye, nothing. jaxon thought it hurt when she told him she hated him and then didn't show up at his birthday party. the one she had thrown! but to just leave, to run away using the party as a ruse... that hurt so much more. what if he never saw irene again? at least if she were in italy, there would be back and forth travels. but now... now no one knew where she was. with her sudden disappearance and not taking anything, she would have to come back at some point, right? she truly didn't think she could just go out with nothing? the entire country was looking for her, too! she would have to be out in the wild where no one could find her. irene wasn't raised like that. she would have no idea what she was doing. was she asking for a death wish?

jaxon finally rolled out of bed. he found out irene was gone the day before everyone else did. at first he thought that maybe she was just spending a day away. two days was pushing what he was expecting. he didn't want to even think about the other option.

she could have been kidnapped. or worse.

no. irene was pretty much the only family jaxon had left. there were no signs of a break in or trouble or anything. he had to believe that she was somewhere safe. safer than being kidnapped. besides, it wasn't entirely beyond irene to run away. with nothing and not saying anything was strange, but irene was always trying to get out of the palace. this would have been her last chance to.

he got dressed and immediately went into his office. he'd been a little bit behind on his work. the selection had been a bigger distraction for him these past few days than he thought. both good and bad. he didn't join them for breakfast, when they would find out about irene. in fact, he didn't join them at all that day.

finally february twentieth came. he'd caught up on his work, was ahead now. he had no reason for that to be an excuse anymore. truth was, he was hurt. and he couldn't let the girls see him like this. so he stayed locked between his room and his office.

helena unlocked his door and burst into his room. ah, the perks of being head maid and being married to the captain! she had keys to everything!

"good morning, your majesty!" she called cheerfully, as if he weren't in a state of depression. she walked over and threw his curtains open. "goodness, when was the last time you had any sunlight?"

jaxon groaned and rolled over onto his stomach, covering his head with a pillow. the pillow was only confiscated. as were his other ones. when he tried to hide under his blankets, those were taken away too. helena frowned and looked him over.

"well, at least you've been eating. but you still look terrible. come on. up and at it! you're joining the girls for breakfast today. you need to stop worrying about irene. they have been looking for her, and i'm sure she's safe. a mother's instinct would tell me otherwise." of course, helena wasn't irene's mother. but for the past two years, she'd been more of a mom to them than theirs had been. she was actually present.

jaxon knew she was right. he needed to get out of this room. he couldn't just abandon the selected like this. they were probably worried! so he shooed helena out and got ready, joining them for breakfast for the first time in five days.

i'm so sorry that this chapter took so long to put up! life has been so hectic! so, this chapter is essentially a free chapter. you can tag whoever you want (except irene) around the palace. we're beginning the end of this roleplay (very slowly), so while things are still peaceful, i would heavily suggest building relationships! friendships to being in love!

this is a three week period of time (2/20-3/10) where nothing is going on in the palace. so dates, hangouts, whatever!

i'm not sure how long this chapter will last, but you will have time for at least one chain! if you finish that, feel free to tag for another! just remember, only one chain at a time with jaxon :)

WHAT YOU'LL DO:
• tag for chains! as many as you want before this chapter ends, but i will only rp in one at a time.
• seriously make relationships! i would also suggest tagging with other selected because a lot of you have ✨evidence✨that you should find ways to secretly discuss with each other. but be careful, someone is always watching.
• put the dates on your chains so i can kind of get an idea for timeline order!
   •  dante is still there
   •  this isn't the only time you'll have to tag for free! just tag whenever! however during other events, those chains will take priority. this is the only period of time where nothing is happening, so anything can happen!

now if you want to be able to have a bunch of chains but figure there won't be enough time, you can write out the plans! like:

they bumped into each other at the library on this day and had a brief conversation, but that was it.

a date! (and then this one can be rped)
