Barking Up the Wrong Tree

What a heart warming moment. One of the penguin's eggs is hatching!

The parents, along with some other friends and family, eagerly await to welcome the new child into the world! The egg shook around a bit as it began to crack. The penguins were huddled together, completely ignoring the cold arctic winds. They were much more focused on this fabulous little penguin-

......

Wait just a moment. To the penguins' surprise, there was no penguin coming out of the egg! No. The penguins all stood and watched in shock at what had just started to emerge from the egg.

It was a TREE?! Yes. You heard correctly. A tree had just emerged from the egg!
The little tree had little sticks wrapping around each other at where the tree's main body would be. The tree had little tiny branches sticking as arms and a little leaf on the tree's head. For what seemed to be the tree's legs, was quite a few long roots as if they were a spider's legs.

It was indeed the two parents' penguin's egg. So they named the little sampling Katty. The other penguins weren't quite sure about how they thought about this new......creature.

As time went on and Katty was easier by her penguin parents, life was quite difficult as you would have imagined. Katty would be judged almost all the time, and even made fun of. Even by her own parents at times!

As Katty grew older, she decided that she didn't need to continue to be insulted by these judgmental penguins. They were all just a bunch of flightless birds!

So, one day when the penguins were judging her and making fun of her, she did something no one would of expected.

Katty stood her ground. She had warned them before about leafing her alone. But they never listened. So it was time to stick to her plan and branch out a bit more, which was going back to her roots.

She snapped and dug her root-like legs into the cold frozen ground, determined as ever. Katty then used her branches to reach out and wrapped them around the penguins! Katty's roots also stuck out of the ground to grab other penguins.

The penguins were quite shocked at what Katty was doing. Katty had snapped. She had enough of being judged because she wasn't a penguin.

Katty didn't leave a single penguin breathing. She was the last one standing now.

Some say that Katty still stays rooted into the ground of the arctic, killing any penguins that come by her.
