April 14, 1912
I woke up to the sweet sound of the wind and waves coming from our cabin's window. Today I just felt like relaxing. I felt as if every day in the Titanic is worse than the first one. You must find my adventures very amusing my dear reader, but allow me to tell you a little something: things are about to go completely south. You have seen nothing compared to what's about to happen. How do I know that you ask? Well, it is just a gut feeling, but I know something is wrong. In the meanwhile, just keep reading along, you will find out soon.
I yawned and stretched my arms while looking around the room. Everything seemed so calm and normal. In fact, it seemed almost too calm to be normal. I dressed up and entered my mother and sister's side of the dormitory. They were getting ready for our breakfast in the dining room. Oh, have I described the dining room for you? It is a beautiful place, not as much as the First Class Grand Staircase, but it has its charms. The food options are also rather limited, but at least they are high quality.
We ate some breakfast while listening to the charming melody of the musicians. They sometimes play in the dining room too, not only on the deck of the ship. I ordered the typical English porridge and a plate of bacon, along with some warm milk. I kept expecting for something extraordinary to happen, but everything was so quiet and calm that it gave me chills. I knew something was wrong, it was just like the calm before a storm. It was that type of calm that foreshadowed what was about to come.
There is nothing wrong Edward, stop worrying needlessly, I thought. I went along and waited for whatever the day would bring. I kissed my mother and sister goodbye and walked out of the dining room and towards the stern of the Titanic. I watched the sun rise as we moved forward reaching New York. I noticed a couple of dolphins jumping in and out of the water together. This reminded me of Jane, our encounter yesterday had been something I would go back to a thousand times, but now it was over, and there was nothing I could do about it. I encountered the captain while wandering around the ship. He looked cheerful as always, and greeted me as soon as he noticed me passing by.
"How are you Mr. Forrester? Are you enjoying the trip?" He said with a big smile. I have to admit, his spirit is a bit catching.
"Everything is delightful. I am enjoying my time in the Titanic, Captain Smith. I have even had my own adventures!" I answered happily.
"Oh is that so? You must be talking about that girl, what's her name... Jane?" He laughed subtlety.
"You know about what happened?!" I asked surprised.
"Well, I couldn't possibly not know! The guards of the ship are under my supervision, they arrested the man who attacked you and the girl last Thursday. You remember, don't you?"
"I do, it would be impossible not to. Have you heard anything else about him?"
"Now that you ask, no. Be very careful, he escaped and we haven't been able to find him. Our security isn't really the best. We don't have many guards, and we cannot send all of them to search for the man. However, know that I am worried for everyone's safety in this ship and I am doing anything possible to get him back. As soon as we get our hands on him, he won't escape again, I assure you."
Of course they have not heard about him! I saw him yesterday and no one was after him. Either the security in the Titanic is terrible, or this man is a criminal mastermind! I will not put my hands on that matter, or I will bring harm to my family again.
"Thank you Captain Smith, I am sure you will find him eventually. Say, when are we supposed to arrive at New York again?" I asked while changing the subject.
"Well I can't tell you the exact date just yet. There may be some obstacles along the way. I can tell you that if there are no unexpected delays, we should get there by the 16th or 17th of April."
"That sounds great captain. Thank you for sparing a few minutes for me."
"You don't have to thank me for that, Mr. Forrester, it is my job!"
By the time we finished talking, it was already noon. I continued to wander around and I saw a man quietly smoking a cigarette and contemplating the view. Suddenly, he was attacked by spits! Oh, it was a sight to see! I laughed quietly. I noticed that a man who appeared to be from third class and a woman with a white dress and red hair from first class were talking to each other on the first class deck, located above the one in which I was walking. Then the man started spitting very hard, he appeared to be trying to teach the girl how to spit as far as possible. What they did not notice was that a man was being bullet-ed by their spits.
Although it was a bit fun to watch the event, I felt bad about the man's ruined suit so I rewound time with my power and told the man to move aside. He seemed confused but he did as I requested and later on saw the shower of saliva that would have fallen on him if it wasn't for me. He looked up and saw the man and woman on the floor above and then, with a look of realization, he thanked me multiple times.
"Oh thank you kid, you have no idea what you have done for me. There's a great dinner today at the first class dining room and I'm only allowed to go if I have a suit and, you know, "look rich." The problem is that this is the only decent suit I have for the event. How can I ever repay you?"
"You owe me nothing. But I did not hear about that announcement you are talking about, please tell me more about this dinner."
"Oh, didn't you hear the captain? You may come to the first class dinner today if you come dressed up elegantly. It will take place at 9: 30 PM."
"That sounds amusing! I will go too then, thank you for telling me."
"No problem kid, thanks to you I can go myself."
It was already 3:37 PM by the time I finished talking to the man. Time is flying by today, and nothing has gone wrong, not like any of the days before. Maybe all the worrying was only part of my imagination and me being paranoid.
I rushed to tell the news to my mother and sister, they already knew and were very excited to go. People constantly talk about how beautiful and exquisite the first class dining room is, and the Grand Staircase that you can walk through before getting to your seat. A crystal dome covers the entire room, with a lamp illuminating the place like a golden star. The food is fancy and there are lots of options to choose from, ranging all the way from pork to seafood, and always decorated with all sorts of vegetables. I am counting every second until we go, I wish I could fast forward in time!
