Trust (chapter 5)

Ghost quickly grabbed his rifle and he pointed the barrle at konig and Nikto tensed as well as konig did.
"Get next to him now."
Ghost commanded and Nikto was considering was but glared at him as he obeyed and stood next to konig. You grew tired finally and de drew your bow and you put it down as you let ghost handle things.
"Raise your hands."
He ordered and they both compiled , raising there hands in the air and Nikto let off a small sigh. As they both raised the hands as konig was tall his head practically kissed the ceiling and he let off a small grunt of discomfort but kept quiet as ghost went over next to you and handed off his rifle to you. As he handed of the rifle to you , you felt the heaviness of the gun in your grasp and you felt the cold metal against your skin.

"Shoot if they move."
He spoke calmly yet firmly to you and you gave a small hesitant nod as you kept the weapon pointed at them and watched as ghost started to pat the down and search them starting with konig. Ghost took the bags they had with them and threw them onto the floor and he started to pay down konig first and make sure that they had no weapons on them. Ghosts hands ran over his legs and back harshly as he was checking for anything and he pulled out a few trinkets along with a small pocket knife and he moved onto Nikto doing the same and Nikto let off a small grunt.
"You plan on doing a cavity search to?"
He muttered as felt ghost reach and search for stuff in his back pockets.
"Not my style."
He countered.
"Yknow a pretty little girl shouldn't be out here with man like this one."
Nikto looked at you as he gestured to ghost.
"And a dumbass like you shouldn't just waltz into random houses you find in the woods and don't talk to her like that"
Ghost snapped.
"Nikto don't. It's not worth the risk. Our lives are already on the line as is."
Konig hissed and you kept quiet.
"Your going to tell me every single thing on why your out here , where your going and if anyone saw you on the way."
Ghost demanded and konig nodded slowly.

You weren't sure of this.

If anything you were scared and worried if they were infected or not , they could've been lying but most of all they could be apart of a rouge group or they could be hunters. Hunters were kinda like smugglers except they were hired to track targets and bring them to the person they were hired by. You've never seen a hunter but you've heard stories lurk about here and there. You were glad that there were still people alive but you were also worried if they carried infection and other diseases and such.
"We're not hunters , merely survivors alright...we're tracking through to go through the city , none saw us but as we were on our way there was a hoard and that was about it. The disease is mutating and the population is very small now.."
Konig explained and ghost huffed.
"Get to the fucking point."
He glared and konig tensed a bit more.
"We're going to city to get cure."
Nikto chimed in , his voice low and annoyed.

Your eyes widnded a bit and ghost scoffed.

"Fucking lies , there is no cure."
Ghost snapped and you shook your head.
"We're going beyond the city but we need to pass through that's all and we need to head out towards the edge and there's a place where they are trying to make a cure."
The German added and you stood quiet as you lowered the rifle a bit wanting to trust them but it was a bit difficult as there was too much being said and going on at the moment.
"You can trust us."
Konig tried persuading both you and ghost hit ghosts eyes narrowed and he grew a bit more hostile.
"That's what they all say."
Ghost huffed and you kept quiet for a moment as you thought about the possibilities now.
"Did you see any infected animals?"
You asked as you looked at them both as you lowered the rifle more.
"We did."
Konig replied and you let off a little shaky breathe as your fears were confirmed.

You knew the disease was spreading and muatating fast but now everything was growing a bit more quickly than you originally expected. You and ghost had been living pretty decent together but now everything would change with this new information. Your hands gripped the rifle tightly more as your mind ran , the cold metal smoothing agaisnt your hand but growing warm as your hands grew clammy. Nikto noticed your growing worry as he observed your body language and he shook his head.
"Little girl worried too much. One shouldn't be out here then. Shocked your not dead yet."
Nikto huffed and ghost snapped his head towards the Russian and grew closer.
"Watch your tounge."
He boomed and Nikto scoffed.
"Gonna cut my tounge out?"
He retorted.
"If needed, mostly wanted."
Ghost countered back.

"Nikto.."
Konig grumbled and sighed.
"Wait.."
You suddenly spoke up again as you looked over konig and nikto kept quiet as you observed both of them. You noticed how konig was laid back and trying to keep calm while Nikto was more combative. Konig could also tell that you were curious and trying to trust them but he knew as well that he was the first other person you've seen in awhile other than ghost who's been with you for long than 365 days. Ghost looked at you and could see you observing them both and he went to say something but you cut him off again.
"They're not here to hurt us...they would've put up more of a fight if they truly wanted us dead but it seems they need something more."
You observed and ghost titled his head and got closer to you.
"This could be a plan you don't know there intentions y/n."
Ghost seethed lowly as he tried to calm himself and keep himself from getting mad at you. He was on edge which left him acting a bit more aggressive.
"Trust me."
You say a bit more firmly as you handed him the rifle and you stood up a bit more straight.
"Y/n don't...let me handle it."
He huffed and you sighed.
"Let me speak."
You spoke up again.

Ghost knew he couldn't get mad at you , he knew you had a plan but he also knew that he couldn't keep his gaurd down. He knew that he had to be careful at all times but he gave you a small nod wanting to trust you a bit and he kept quiet as he waited for you to elaborate. Konig watched as he looked between you and ghost as you talked to him. He had a small closed lipped smile under his mask as he was a relived as he saw you trying to find reason to help out a bit.

Ragged breathes and tired souls had come about with feet black as coal. You knew you could help but trust was at a fine line for you both knew there was a new demise.
