Keefe's P.O.V.

"Everything okay?" Edaline ran towards Sophie. I had no idea what was wrong. I had a feeling Sophie was on the verge of spilling the ugly truth all over the floor right in front of Edaline, but that wasn't the case.

"Flori told me what's going on-or everything she knew anyway,"

"I'll tell you the rest." Gigantor said, as he started to steer Foster away. But Foster being her cute, stubborn self locked her knees, stopping Gigantor from moving her. "No you won't!"

"You and I both know you don't have the energy to go through the whole conversation again," Gigantor argued. He then leaned down and whispered something to Sophie. She whispered something back before turning toward us and raising her voice.

"And fine. But I have one question first-then I'll go to bed," Gigantor sighed. Sophie turned toward Edaline and opened her mouth,

"Is Grady still with the council?" Edaline nodded and replied,

"But only because he went back to warn them after I shared what Flori told me about Gethen probing Tam's memories. And she was able to get ahold of the Black Swan as well, in case you're wondering. Mr. Forkle said he'll let you know how they're going to manage the situation once he's gotten a few things in motion. I'm sure the Council will have lots of questions about what Tam knows when you meet with them tomorrow too." Sophie's eyebrows shot up. "I'm meeting with the Council tomorrow?"

"You are. They've asked you to come to Eternalia at midday."

"Is everything okay?" Sophie asked. Y/n me standing on the sidelines was kind of getting awkward and she was trying to sneak out. I grabbed her hand before she could escape the tension in the room leaving me alone. She started to grumble things under her breath, something on the lines of 'annoying' and 'cute'.

Wait what

I noticed Sophie leaving the room to take a shower and y/n just stood there.

"Soooooo, what was that?" Y/n asked walking up to Edaline. I could tell that she was still in shock about the whole elf thing, but she was handling it a lot better than Foster. Probably because she's older and more mature or something.

"Sophie's been elected to be a regent along with a bunch of other people," Edaline replied walking towards the kitchen and getting out ingredients which I suspected were used for mallowmelt.

"What's a regent?"

"Regents are special members of the Nobility that work for the council, they're like emissaries but they can be more open about their work," Edaline replied busying herself with making mallowmelt while Sophie showered. This would be a big bombshell as she's just a teeanger and the council wants her to work for them.

"Did they ask me?" Y/n said, jumping up and down like an excited puppy. Edaline gave her an apologetic glance,

"Sorry sweetie, but you did just arrive to the Lost Cities a week ago. The councilors might not trust you just yet, but I think it's a good thing you're not getting roped up into this. I already have one daughter always putting herself in danger, I certainly don't want you almost dying as much times as her," Edaline smiled sweetly at her. But then her words struck a nerve in me. Why should Sophie work for the council when they did so many bad things to her? Now, Sophie doesn't even have the choice to say no, because they'll threaten her with Exile, or a punishment. I sometimes question the council's decisions because they're definitely not keeping the Lost Cities safe.

"Oh yeah, how many Elwin visits has she had?" Y/n forced a smile, for Edaline, it was transparent. But I could right through it. Edaline chuckled,

"Too many to count," Her expression turned into a frown.
