The raven haired boy jolted awake in his room, started to breathe heavily, and wiped the sweat off his forehead. "Why can't they go away..?" The nightmares just won't go away..Even though the truth was out he still had nightmares. He hardly ever goes to Headspace anymore it just depends on how he felt that day or what he ate, which wasn't much. Microwaved steak every day wouldn't really do anything either. He sighed and sat up on the side of his bed letting his feet dangle off.
He looked on his nightstand and at his alarm clock, "7:30 AM," he read. "It's so early..Only two more hours until I visit Basil, so what should I do in my mean time..?" Sunny's mom and Basil's caretaker, Polly, agreed to let Sunny stay over for the summer until school strolls around, so he was very happy about this. "Three whole months with Basil." He smiles slightly and snaps back into focus,"Right."
He got out of bed and began to dress for the day. His style hadn't really changed much after moving from Faraway Town. The casual Khaki shorts, White shirt, and a black tank top over it. His cliff-faced expression as usual, skinny but tall body. Nothing had changed about him.
He opened his door and walked to the kitchen to see if there was anything to eat. He checked the pantry..then the fridge,"Cereal and milk will do," he thought to himself. He grabbed himself a bowl and the box of cereal and poured it into the bowl, he then did the same thing with his milk. He grabbed his spoon and ate.
A brown haired woman walks in, "Sunny, Is that you dear?" She peaked around the corner to see. It was his mom, Sunny loved her to death, but she always went on and on about some things and didn't stop, "Hi dear, why are you up so early? Excited to see Basil, hm?" Sunny's face went a little red, he nodded.
"How's your eye, doing better?" She walked towards him and lifted up his eye patch, "The doctor said that we should come by for a check up, so we'll go whenever you get back in August." She examined his eye and smiled, "It's healing slowly, but surely. Once your father and I get enough money we can get you a prosthetic eye." She fixed his eye patch and walked into the living room, their house was much smaller than their original house at Faraway Town. It was a one story house but it was still big enough for Sunny and His parents to have their own room. Mewo, the cat that Sunny had taken on when Mari passed away, usually slept with him on his bed, so she really didn't need her own bed or room at the most.
Sunny nodded and finished eating, he got up and put his bowl and spoon in the dishwasher. "I wonder if she would mind if I asked, I really don't want to wait to see Basil," He thought to himself. He walked into the living room right after his mom. After trying he managed to choke out a few words,"M..Mom?" He called out, "Do you think well..well maybe we could go to Basil's house now?"
His mother looked at him, "Is your stuff packed? Do you have everything you need toothbrush, toothpaste, hair comb.." she went on an endless list of things he needed, he nodded and there was a moment of silence for a few minutes. "Well I suppose that since you have everything we can go now. Go to his house..Go get your stuff and we can leave. I'll text your father."
He nods and walks off to gather his things. He smiles while thinking about Basil, "I can't wait to see him, his smile, his hair, the way he talks about plants, his laugh, everything about him was perfect!" Sunny regarded himself. He grasped his suitcase then headed to the living room, his mom was texting his dad.
"Are you ready, darling?" The raven-haired boy gave a swift nod then they walked out the door.
"Meow?" Mewo walked in front of Sunny not wanting him to go. "Meow?" The boy crouched down to pet her behind her ear, "I'll be back," he said softly, his voice was quite hoarse sometimes, so he tried not to frighten her.
Sunny turned around, closed the door, and locked it before getting in the car. He put his things in the trunk of the car and sat in the back seat. Sunny laid his head on the window and watched as trees, houses, buildings, and other things passed by. Next thing he knew he was fast asleep, it felt like all he did these days was sleep.
A pitch black room formed, "A door," he queries to himself. He opens the door and looks around he sees a girl pop up before his eyes, She has long black hair, silky too. She was wearing a blue dress, "Mari? Is that you?" he squinted his eyes to see closer. The figure turned around, it was her, Mari! "Mari! It's you," He ran toward her and embraced her. He shoved the side of his head into her chest. "I miss you so much, I'm so sorry." Mari just stood there and made no sound. "Mari?" he looked up, "This isn't you Mari, what are you doing? Why are you just..standing there?"
She reached out for him, she put her hands on his head, and pushed him down. Sunny fell into a black hole and screamed for his life. "Mari! Mari! Wait come ba-" He landed into the water. Screaming, bubbles fuming out of his mouth, he sinks down struggling to swim back up. He struggles some more, he looks down and sees red hands reaching out from the bottom of the ocean to grasp him. One takes a hold of his ankle, then another puts itself around his nose and mouth, a third grasped his other ankle and dragged him down.
His eyes flutter close and he wakes up somewhere familiar hearing voices. "Omori! Omori wake up! You need to wake up!" He shifts awake and takes a look around, He looks at his hands and clothing. "I'm Omori.." he thought. He saw a girl with purple hair, a pink bow, "Aubrey.." he looked at her in the eyes. "Thank God you're here, I really need your help." He hugged her. "Aubrey?" The figure of Aubrey disappeared. "Not you too! Aubrey!" he yelped, next thing he knows he wakes up in the car, sweating, breathing heavily, tears rushing down his face.
His mom was pulled over on the side of the road and she was shaking him. She then pulled his, into an embrace. "Thank God you're here, I really thought I lost you there," She smiled. "Do you want to wait a little before driving again or do you want to go ahead and go?"
"Just go.." He sighed and closed his eyes, running his hand through his hair. He and his mom sat in the car for the next hour or so in silence until they got to Basil's house. Sunny's heart fluttered at the sight of his house. Sunny quickly got out of the car and opened the trunk to seize his suitcase.
"Sunny dear, I'll be back in about three months to get you, ok? Remember if you need any or you want to come home, you can always call mommy! Bye sweetie, love you." Then she left like that, like he wasn't all that important to her, like she didn't have a care in the world for him. He brushed it off and walked towards the front door of Basil's house. He knocked on the door twice and he eagerly waited patiently. He heard the shuffling of feet toward the door, he heard it unlock, and saw the door open. He looks up and stares at the slim, scrawny, body that appeared right before him.
