Three - A secret
GODDOOM
Melody woke up like a baby the next morning. This day had no formal education on the schedule so she felt like sleeping some more. However she remembered the dream she just had and realized that the dream had actually continued but this time she felt no pain at all.
She had to call her friend and tell her, so she did.
“Really?!! You know something I'll come there right away so we talk about it.”
Just about then, her younger brother entered the room again. “The doctor's here for you”
“Huh? For?” she didn't know what was going on. The doctor only came around every two weeks. The fact that he was here the day before and he's here today is confusing.
Melody's face expression matched her confusion as she followed her brother down the stairs to see the doctor. Her mother was bringing something from the kitchen and she checked the time to see that it was just 7 o'clock in the morning.
“How are you feeling?” the doctor asked even before she found her seat.
“Perfect,” she replied. “Is there something I'm missing? I wasn't expecting you today.”
“Oh not at all but how are your dreams? Have you had any today?” he asked.
“No,” she said it out before she could even think about it. She had no idea why she lied.
“Really?”
“Yeah,” she replied. How did he know, she thought. I had another just this morning and Michelle is the only one I have told about it. How on earth could he possibly find out. Michelle would never tell him, and she doesn't even know my doctor too. The thought of it made her uncomfortable.
“But she had one yesterday, why would you think she had another one today too? I thought it only occurred almost once every two weeks or something,” my mom cut in.
“Oh yes.” For a moment there, he looked confused. “I don't even know why I felt the need to be here. It was just a hunch, I guess.”
“Wow,” Melody commented.
“You took it right out of my mouth,” Melody's mom added. “So can she leave?”
“Oh yeah, sure. I should too,” he said.
“You can stay with us for breakfast,” my mom said and Melody looked at her in her eyes.
‘Don't tell me you're hitting on him,’ her eyes said.
‘It's not wrong, is it?’ Melody's mom's eyes replied.
Also just about then, Michelle barged inside the house after knocking.
“Good morning aunt Trixie,” she greeted. That was Melody's mom's name. “Good morning,” Michelle added while staring confused at the man he saw.
“I'm the family doctor, Doctor Hayford,” he introduced himself recognizing the confusion on her face.
“Come and let's go to my room,” Melody said and Michelle followed her to the room.
When they enter, Melody warned, “Don't tell anyone my dreams continued.”
“I thought that's why the doctor was here?”
“Oh no, I lied to them. He just came here unexpectedly to say that he had a hunch that I might have had another episode today.”
“Wow,” Michelle said.
“I know right”
“Maybe he's just hitting on your mom,” Michelle said and let out a short laughter.
Melody giggled. “Then it should work well for them because it seems my mom is all into it.”
“Really?”
“Oh yeah,” Melody assured. Even though they said that, deep down Melody felt something else about the doctor. She felt like he was here not because he was hitting on her mom but something else. She just couldn't tell what it was. Though it didn't feel like anything good.
