"Can't you see we are still talking? Are nurses nosy nowadays? Didn't you have any manners, na?" The chubby guy, named Gun, if Noeul remembers correctly, spat at him.
"Sorry, I didn't mean to interrupt," Noeul muttered, feeling a wave of embarrassment wash over him.
The words brought him back to reality.
Why are you looking at him, dumbass..he thought to himself as he lowered down his gazed from the man on the bed.
"If you see someone talking, don't meddle with them. Wait for them to finish before you start speaking yourself. Tsk, we paid a fortune here, and this is the type of worker they give us!" Gun's frustration was evident as he continued to berate Noeul.
Noeul closed his mouth and bowed his head, unsure of how to respond. He had only wanted to complete his task, but now he felt like he had overstepped his boundaries. What had he done wrong?
And why had Gun called him a nurse? Did he look like one?
As he contemplated these questions, he noticed the other guy, Ter, approaching Gun and whispering something in his ear. Noeul couldn't hear what was being said, but he could tell it was serious by the look on Gun's face.
"Well, I don't care, Ter! If he tries to gossip about what he heard in this room, then we'll sue him. What's the point of signing an NDA if they can't control their workers here?" Gun exclaimed, his gaze now directed at Noeul.
Noeul was taken aback. Why would they think he'd gossip? Were they threatened by his mere presence and the snippets of conversation he'd overheard? He prided himself on professionalism; he wouldn't stoop to such behavior. But now, he couldn't shake the feeling of being under scrutiny.
"Hey Gun, can you just stop it already? Stop projecting your frustration onto someone who doesn't know what's happening. Let the boy do his job," the patient interrupted, causing Noeul to glance at him.
Noeul almost gasped when he caught the man looking at him, feeling a strange sensation stirring within him. It wasn't a negative feeling, but rather a sense of being captivated by the ethereal presence of the man lying on the bed.
Gun rolled his eyes at the patient's remark as he walked in front of Noeul. Noeul then reverted his gaze towards Gun and watched nervously as Gun approached him, unsure of what to expect next.
"Next time, stop being nosy, okay?" Gun stated sharply as he walked past Noeul and settled onto the couch behind him. Noeul realized he had been holding his breath and let out a sigh of relief, feeling the tension in his chest ease.
"What's wrong with these people?" Noeul thought to himself, feeling bewildered by the whole situation.
Noeul almost jumped when Gun suddenly spoke again, "Aren't you going to do your job now? Why are you still standing there?!" Gun's tone was impatient, snapping Noeul out of his trance.
"Y-yes," Noeul stuttered, hastily moving towards the man on the bed.
As he attended to the patient, Noeul couldn't shake the feeling of being unsettled by the pale, smooth arms of the man beside him. It wasn't that he hadn't seen attractive men before; he had encountered plenty who were more physically imposing and sculpted. Yet, there was something about the sharp gaze of the man lying in the bed that unnerved him. It felt as though those eyes were piercing through him, stirring something deep within and leaving him gasping for air.
"Are you okay?" the man on the bed spoke, causing Noeul to almost drop the kit he was holding in surprise.
"Just don't mind my manager; he sometimes gets frustrated and vents to others when I don't follow his orders," the man gently reassured Noeul as he looked at him with understanding.
