The start of the week felt like a trance to Noeul, a relentless march towards an inevitable doom.
"I'll have a free schedule this Wednesday. Are you free?" That was what Boss had asked him. And in his foolishness, yet again, he answered, "yes."
He was well aware that Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays were his part-time shifts at the hospital.Unaware of the possible dilemma of agreeing to meet on Wednesday evening, knowing he had a shift at 9 PM that day, he was blinded by the fact that the celebrity was making time for him.
Monday passed by like a thin air, him being swept away by unforeseen chaos waiting to happen. Monday evening brought nothing new; the exhaustion of the first day of the week always lingered, stretching through the rest of the week.
Tuesday was a ticking bomb, with him just waiting and waiting and waiting for the whole day to end.
"At this point, I'm really starting to think something really happens to you during the weekend. Seriously, I'm getting anxious," Pete's voice interrupted his reverie. They were both tidying their paperwork at their desks in the admin office.
Noeul's mind was elsewhere, consumed by thoughts of the impending Wednesday. The anticipation gnawed at him, like a relentless itch he couldn't scratch. He tried to focus on his work, but his mind kept wandering back to the upcoming rendezvous with Boss. It was like waiting for the other shoe to drop, a sense of impending doom hanging over him like a dark cloud.
As the hours dragged on, Noeul found himself counting down the minutes until the end of the day. Each passing second felt like an eternity, the weight of anticipation pressing down on him like a suffocating blanket.
When the clock finally struck five, Noeul wasted no time in gathering his belongings and making his way out of the office. He couldn't bear to spend another moment in that suffocating space, his mind consumed by thoughts of Wednesday and what it might bring.
As he stepped out into the cool evening air, Noeul couldn't shake the feeling of dread that lingered in the pit of his stomach. Wednesday loomed on the horizon like a specter, casting a shadow over everything he did. He tried to push the thoughts aside, to focus on the present moment, but the anticipation gnawed at him relentlessly, refusing to be ignored.
"Shia, Noeul, what happened to you really?" Pete asked again, running towards Noeul, who seemed to still be in his own world while walking out of the school building.
Noeul, lost in his wandering mind, began to make his way to the parking lot, unaware of the worried Pete behind him. Pete, whose mind seemed to be racing, yanked Noeul's hand, causing him to jump in surprise.
"Noeul! Are you listening? You've been out since Monday, bro. What the hell happened to you?" Pete, seemingly on the edge, asked Noeul.
"Oyy Pete, what do you mean?" Noeul replied, still seemingly disconnected from reality. He had been absentminded since yesterday, his mind consumed by thoughts of Boss Chaikamon
"You dumbass, why are you acting like that? You've been absentmindedly wandering since yesterday. You're making me worry," Pete breathed, trying to contain his frustration.
"I... I'm not," Noeul attempted to protest, though deep down, he knew Pete was right. He had been lost in his thoughts, unable to focus on anything else.
"I was just... thinking about things. You know," Noeul tried to brush it off, attempting to act cool in front of his friend, but Pete wasn't buying it.
"Was it your part-time job?" Pete asked, concern evident in his voice as he worried that something had happened to Noeul at work.
