11th April 1912

It was a beautiful day as Brian made his way down to the docks of Liverpool. The sun was, surprisingly, shining and he was in a great mood. As his car got closer, he was unable to drive. For people swarmed the streets, excitement flooded the air. He never thought he would be able to get such an offer as this. He exited his car, taking a suitcase with him. He locked his car and left it all behind him. He made his way through the crowds and around a corner. And thats when he saw her.
The RMS Titanic.
Such a marvelous ship. Outstanding from every angle. She stood far above anyone else, everyone was captivated by her beauty. The tickets had been very expensive and he was lucky that he was getting to take this opportunity.
"The cost will be worth it." He thought to himself.
He reached into his coat pocket and gripped for his ticket. He made way for the boarding station. Apologizing to the people he had pushed through. The line was moving fairly quickly, so he grabbed a spot and waited.
Looking around him, people were bustling and talking about. Cheers and laughter. He could tell he wasn't the only one excited for this trip.
He wasn't sure what he would do once they arrived in New York. He was slightly nervous, he wouldn't know anyone. He tried pushing the thought to the side. Thinking about it now would only increase his stress.
This was a time for himself, to have a little break in his ever so busy life. Business was all he really thought about, and he was very good at it. But after some time, he was feeling a bit under the weather. Finding out something as exciting as going to New York made him giddy with excitement.
"Sir, may I see your ticket?" A man asked, his accent heavy. He stood up straight, his hand outstretched. Brian jumped slightly, and fumbled to hand him his ticket.
"Thank you, sir. Please enjoy your time. We'll take care of your bags. They will be in your assigned room shortly. You can see which room on your ticket here."
The man handed a now, hole punched ticket, to Brian. Brian nodded. A man turned to him and offered out his hand. Brian handed his bag to a man off to the side. He thanked the man and walked up the ramp to the deck.
His heart was racing as he took his first step onto the boat. Smiling, he walked over to the edge, he held onto the railing, and looked out at all of the people. He was appalled. People were cheering and waving at everyone who boarded. Brian watched as people walked onto the ship, seeing the diversity of all different social classes. After some time, Brian became distracted. He watched as the waves hit against the boat. The sound of the people becoming muffled and soft. He wasn't sure how long he was looking at the water. Though, soon everyone was on and a loud speaker blared over the noise.
"It is now time for the RMS Titanic to set sail for New York!"
Everyone cheered and hollered. The ship began to move, a loud horn blaring as they did so. People waved goodbye to the passengers on deck and below. Brian waved and smiled. He looked out at all of the people, he couldn't wait to finally have some relaxation.
He made his way to the first class rooms and looked around for which room he was to be staying in. After walking down the long hall, he found his room. Room A31. He remembered to take note of which room number. Opening the door, and stepping in, he was greeted by a beautiful lounge with expensive furniture. There was a bathroom, the sink, toilet, and bathtub made from white porcelain. There was a bedroom, with a king sized bed, laid out along with fancy comforters and sheets. And a small window was tightly sealed on the wall. He looked out, he couldn't see much, but the water that waited below. After looking at everything, he exited his room, only to bump into the man holding his suitcase.
"Hello, sir. Sorry to bother. Here is your luggage. Shall I set it inside your room?"
"Yes, please. That would be marvelous." Brian said and let the man in. Brian trusted him to not damage his room. Luckily, he didn't bring any valuables. So, he wasn't worried that he would steal anything.
Making his way to the deck, he saw many people of all sorts. Other first class people walked by, dressed in their finest clothes. Brian admired the women's dresses, he thought they looked quite beautiful. Brian straightened his vest and blazer. Trying to keep himself well managed and clean. He didn't want to be the odd one out.
He came across a dining room. It was empty at the moment, but it was sure to be filled once supper came along. He was amazed by all of the small details that were put into everything on the ship.
Once he made it back to the deck, he walked over to the edge of the ship. The water splashing and rolling past them. He looked out to see that now, Liverpool was barely noticeable. It began to fade as the boat drove away.
Brian sighed and walked over to a bench. He sat down and relaxed against the wall. Some nearby people were chatting and talking about how they couldn't wait for something to eat. Apparently, they had the finest cuisine and many people were looking forward to it.
Brian was getting pretty hungry, however, he felt nervous thinking about how he might have to sit with a bunch of strangers.
He tried distracting himself with something else. He would have to deal with it later. He watched as a crewman rushed over to a security personnel. He became curious and listened closely.
"Officer, it seems there might have been a slight accident."
"An accident?!" Brian thought. He turned slightly more in their direction. They didn't seem to notice he was listening.
"There are reports of a few unidentified passengers. They might have snuck on illegally. We don't know if they are dangerous."
"We'll be on the lookout." The officer said.
Brian turned back around and swallowed thickly. "Someone dangerous?" he thought. He decided not to fret on it. He would keep a look out, though, he didn't want to let his guard down.
He stood up, the sun was now setting. There was a beautiful orange glow over the water. He wondered if supper was being served yet, he was feeling his stomach grumble.
He walked down to the dining room he saw earlier. People were now sitting down and beginning to eat. He should have looked at the schedule for when certain events were. He was glad he hadn't been late for dinner.
He was welcomed in by a servant. He timidly thanked him and sat down at an empty table. He hoped no one would yell at him for being one person at a table that could seat five people.
As more people flooded in, Brian continued to sit there looking a bit awkward or even bored. He tried not to make much eye contact, he always did have a difficultly with social situations. He always wanted people to see the best of him, but he looked pretty pitiful at the moment.
Without even asking, a group of three people sat down at his table. He looked up at them in confusion.
"You don't mind if we join you, do you?" a man asked. He had a stingy wealthy vibe, and his mustache only added to it. The two others who had joined him were two women.
"My name is James Edgarton, you may know me by my family name. Owners of a great oil mill in India." he boasted. "These are my two lovely ladies, Tina and Maria. Beautiful aren't they?"
"Uhm...yes, very." Brian agreed.
"And this ship, also quite exquisite! She's a big beauty, yes? Nothing could possibly bring this big girl down."
Brian listened and nodded.
"Oh, please excuse my rudeness! I didn't ask your name!"
"Oh, I'm Brian. Brian Epstein." he greeted and extended his arm across the table. The man took his hand and happily shook it.
"And what brings you to the Titanic?" he asked.
"Just wanting an escape from my life back home for a bit..." Brian explained. The man nodded.
The two girls next to him didn't seem to speak much. They stuck to him like glue. He wondered if they disliked one another or if it was a team effort.
The man then continued on about his business and how he was hoping to expand it when he got to America. Brian tuned him out. The food was soon brought out and Brian used it as an excuse to not join into his conversation. After the suffering that was dinner, Brian excused himself from the table and walked out into the hallway outside.
He rubbed his temples, and knew he was going to get a headache. He decided to go down to his room and retire for the night.
As he walked down the quiet halls, he remembered what he heard earlier. What if the unauthorized passengers were watching him? He shook the feeling away and took the stairs down to the first class cabins. He got to his room and was about to unlock it when he saw someone sneaking around the halls. He looked over.
He saw a young man, dressed pretty ruggedly, snooping about.
Brian questioned his whereabouts and decided to take action.
"Excuse me," Brian spoke up as he walked over to the man.
The man flinched. He looked over at Brian. His face was full of worry.
"What's a third class passenger doing in first class?" Brian asked.
The man seemed to shrink as Brian got closer. He could see he was ashamed.
"Well?" Brian asked, as he finally reached the man.
The young man stood there, looking at the ground. Refusing the respond.
"Listen to me," Brian started, "Third class passengers aren't allowed here, go back to where you're from."
It was cruel and pretty cold, but Brian didn't have time to play games. He wanted to get to his room and get some sleep.
The young man finally looked up at Brian. His eyes full of fear, it seemed. Upon closer inspection, Brian actually found this third class boy to be attractive. He admired his facial features. He was beautiful to Brian's standards. The boy parted his mouth as if to say something, but then stopped.
He started smirking. Brian furrowed his brows in confusion.
"Why 'ya lookin' at me like tha'?" he asked, a dumbfounded look on his face.
"Hunh?" Brian asked, stepping away immediately. He didn't realize he was being so straight forward.
The boy laughed, "Aha! 'Ya creep!"
Brian's eyes went wide. He was speechless. Did he just insult him?
"How dare you call me that!" Brian defended.
"I din' say nothin'," he mumbled, putting his hands up in defense.
Brian groaned, "I don't have time to deal with you."
Brian turned around and walked away, he felt so humiliated. He would lose his social status if that runt told anyone about this. Luckily, no one would trust someone from such a low class.
He got to his door and dug around in his pocket for the key. He unlocked the door and opened it. He felt a hand on his back, and jumped.
He quickly turned, only to see the boy from seconds ago.
"Agh," Brian groaned, "What's your problem kid?"
"Don' call me kid, m' names John," he said.
"Okay, then. What's your problem John?" Brian asked, "You've already humiliated me enough, just let me sleep."
John crossed his arms and pouted his lips. He looked up at Brian with puppy dog eyes. "But...but..."
Brian rolled his eyes and shut the door behind him. "Hey!" a muffled whine from behind the door. Brian heard him knock, but he ignored him.
He went to his bathroom and splashed some water on his face. He dried himself off with a towel and went to his bedroom. He sat on the edge of the bed and sighed.
"Please!" he heard but ignored.
Brian ignored any other cries and shut the door to his bedroom, hoping it would muffle his calls more. As he dressed himself for bed, the calling eventually stopped. Brian got into bed and fell asleep.
