12th April 1912

The next morning, Brian awoke to the sound of waves hitting the side of the boat. It was calming. He yawned and got up. He got dressed, brushed his teeth, and fixed his hair. He wore a dark suit, dress shirt underneath, with a simple black tie. He made sure his shoes looked shined and left his room.
As he exited, he almost tripped over something in front of his doorway. He looked down and his eyes went wide. It was the boy from last night and he was sleeping on the floor.
"John?!" he got down on his knees and tried waking him up. "Why did he have to humiliate me like this?" he thought.
The boy groaned, and opened his eyes. He blinked a few times and then lifted his head.
"Ah, you're up?" he asked. He rubbed the back of his neck with his hand, "Agh, my neck...help me up will 'ya?"
He took his hand and pulled him up. John straightened his back and stretched. "Thanks."
Brian nodded a smile and walked away towards the staircase. John ran up next to him and smiled, "So, where we goin' first?"
"What?" Brian asked, taking a step away from him. John continued to scoot himself closer as the two of them walked along.
"Where we goin'?" he repeated.
"You're not coming with me." Brian stated coldly.
"What? Why not?!" John complained.
Brian sighed and brought John over to a secluded area near the staircase. "Look, we are completely different in every way.-"
"Nuh-uh," John interrupted.
"Listen, John, I mean just look at yourself. You're wearing the same outfit as yesterday!"
"So wha'?" John asked innocently.
"You can't just do that," Brian said, "Its unheard of!"
"Why? Its not like they smell or nothin'," John mumbled. "Do they?" He began sniffing himself and playing around with his suspenders.
"No, god, John stop it!" Brian hushed, he looked around to see if anyone had seen that. Luckily, most of the people were at breakfast already.
John pouted and looked at him. Brian crossed his arms and took a deep breath. "Why are you trying to stick around me?"
"'Cause you were...yesterday you were giving me the look," John explained, emphasizing the word look.
Brian uncrossed his arms and covered his face in embarrassment. "No," he grumbled, "I didn't...I didn't mean to do it. Please, just go away."
John frowned, "But..."
"No," Brian said, uncovering his face and looking him right in the eye, "Look, I don't care if you think it's funny to pester me just because I'm..." he stopped, "Look, just go!"
Brian pushed John away and stormed off up the stairs.
"Wait!" John whined.
Brian continued to walk away as quickly as he could. He looked back and saw that John was trying to catch up. He took a quick turn and saw an open elevator. He quickly stepped in, "Take me down please." he told the crewman. The man nodded and pulled the lever down.
"Wait!" Brian heard, but the doors closed and they began to go downstairs.
It opened and Brian stepped out. He looked around and saw that he was in the lowest part of the ship. Some third class rooms were down here. It was also used for storage.
He walked down the hall and saw that no one was around. He could finally get some peace and quiet. He sighed and leaned against the wall.
He couldn't figure out why this boy was bothering him. He should have never of bothered him that night. Then he wouldn't be running from him now. He did have to admit, he was attracted to him. The fact that all he wanted to do was hang out was cute to Brian. But he couldn't be seen with him. It was completely against his status.
"Why do you keep running away?!"
Brian opened his eyes and looked over. At the end of the hall was John. He looked as worn out as he was. John walked over slowly.
Brian just slid against the wall till he was sitting on the floor. John crept down next to him.
"Why are you so persistent?" Brian asked him. "Why do you want to stay with me so bad?"
John thought for a moment but then answered, "I...I really don't know. Truthfully, when I met you I...I just felt safer. And I liked that feeling."
Brian stared at him, surprised by his heartfelt answer. "Safer?" Brian thought. "Do you feel threatened?" he asked.
"Maybe, I dunno..." he answered.
The two of them sat there for a moment. Brian wasn't sure what to say next. He looked over at him, he looked so sad, so helpless.
"Why are you on Titanic?" Brian asked, finally.
John was quiet for a moment. "Dunno..." he said, quietly.
"Is your family on with you? Or, are you alone?" Brian asked.
John shifted slightly and continued to look away. He didn't answer.
"John?" Brian asked.
John only shook his head. Brian bit his lip and put his hand on John's shoulder. He leaned over to look at him. Brian was surprised to see that John had tears rolling down his cheeks.
"John? Are you okay?" Brian asked.
John looked at him, he sniffed and threw himself into Brian. John snuggled himself into Brian's chest. His tears dampening some of his jacket.
Brian listened as he cried out.
Brian learned that John's family left him since he was only five years old. That he had been living off of scraps from others. He didn't have a home, he didn't have friends. It seemed that everybody kept leaving him. He was utterly alone. Brian wasn't sure how John could have afforded to of bought a ticket for Titanic, but he didn't want to question him now.
Brian rubbed John's back. He tried to calm him down. He felt so bad for him. "Hey, it's okay now. It's okay."
After a few minutes, John had stopped crying. His head was still pressed against Brian's chest and gripping his jacket for support. Brian felt his cheeks become warm. John was pretty cute like this. Brian seemed unsure as he slowly went to pet John's head. He seemed to question his own actions.
John jumped slightly at his touch. Brian knew he shouldn't be doing this. He could be arrested for being with a man in this way. But he couldn't help himself.
John pulled himself up and took Brian's hand from his head. He held it tight, "Follow me," he whispered. He held a finger to his lips with his free hand.
Brian raised an eyebrow in confusion but did as he was told.
John crept along quietly and pulled Brian over to a big door. "Help me open it," he said.
The two of them opened up the heavy door. John smiled and giggled, "C'mon," he said, taking Brian's hand again.
Brian looked around the dimly lit room. It was huge. Big boxes of all sorts were stacked around. It was one of the storage units. John pulled him along until they came up next to a car.
John laughed again and bit his lip to keep his excitement contained. He climbed up and opened up the door. He motioned for Brian to follow him into the back seat of the car.
Brian thought he should just walk away for a moment, but he pushed it aside and followed John inside.
He crawled in and sat next to John on the leather seating. John reached over and shut the door.
"What are we doing in here?" Brian asked, now worried that they may get in trouble.
"Shh!" John hushed, "No one is gonna know were here, I promise." He scooted closer to Brian and put his hand on his knee. Rubbing his leg slowly.
Brian's eyes went wide and his cheeks became a shade of pink. He turned to John, unsure of what to say. "Wha-? Wait, John..."
"Shhh..." John repeated. He slowly slid his hand up Brian's thigh. Brian closed his eyes and swallowed thickly. He couldn't believe John was doing this. They were going to be caught, Brian just knew it.
He felt John lips against his jaw. He began giving him small kisses along his jawline. Brian sighed. He had to take the risk. He wanted to.
He opened his eyes and turned to John. Causing him to stop kissing along his jaw.
"Hnm?" He looked at Brian, trying to read his what his actions were.
He brought his hands up and cupped John's face. He pulled him in close and kissed him. It was rushed and Brian felt that his heart could be beating through his chest.
When he pulled away, he saw John slowly opening his eyes. With his cheeks tinted pink, his lips parted, and his lashes fluttering, Brian wanted to kiss him again and again. He looked stunning.
John smirked and leaned in again, the two of them sharing another kiss. This time they went slowly. Their lips soft against one another's.
Brian smiled as they ended their kiss. John licked his lips and began pulling Brian's suit jacket off. Grinning, Brian helped him take it off. He tossed it aside. Giggling like kids, the two began to undress.
John laid down on the seat and Brian positioned himself above him. His knees on each side of John's waist. The two of them looked into each other's eyes. Brian leaned down and kissed him. He was beautiful.
And if he must say it, he loved him.
Brian loved him.
...
After getting dressed, the two had gone back up to the first class floor. They were talking quietly to themselves as they made their way back to Brian's room.
They stopped suddenly when someone called out Brian's name from behind them. He turned to see James Edgarton and his two mindless followers.
"Yes?" Brian asked.
"If you don't mind, may I speak to you for a moment..."
Brian looked over at John and then walked over to Mr. Edgarton. He sent his girls off and pulled Brian to the side. "What are you doing with such garbage?" he asked.
Brian seemed befuddled by his accusations. Had he really called John, garbage?
"Uhm, I..." Brian tried thinking of something. Anything to protect his reputation. But then he remembered John, and he remembered that he needed to do this for him.
"I'm friends with him. And for your information, just because someone doesn't have money it doesn't make them any less than you. And don't you ever call him garbage again."
He turned away, walking back to John. "Wait! Brian, I would be careful."
Brian didn't look back.
"I wouldn't trust him if I were you!"
Brian grabbed John's arm and pulled him along to their room not letting Mr. Edgarton come up with another excuse.
When they got into his room, John immediately marveled everything. He was so appalled by the fancy furniture. Brian stood in the doorway, "Look, we haven't eaten anything all day, and its almost supper, so I'm going to grab us something to eat, alright?"
John nodded and relaxed back onto the couch. Brian smiled and shut the door. He went back up the stairs and to the dining room. It smelled delicious. He grabbed two plates and piled food onto them. He got a few strange looks but he ignored them. He carefully made his way back to the room and knocked on the door with his elbow.
John opened the door and let him in, he licked his lips, "That looks so good!"
The two of them enjoyed dinner. Talking to one another as they ate. They joked about different topics and by the time they were done, they were both tired.
"I guess, it's getting late. You should get going" Brian said, seeing as John yawned.
"I...I was hoping I could stay with you!" John cooed.
Brian rose an eyebrow, "With me? Alright." John cheered and they walked into the bedroom. Brian began getting his pajamas on as John climbed onto the bed. Brian looked up at him as he buttoned his pajama shirt, "Do you have pajamas?"
John paused for a second, "Uhm..."
"No, its alright, here sleep in one of mine." Brian interrupted. He handed him a pajama top and bottom.
John took his clothes off and threw them on the floor. Brian decided he would have them cleaned in the morning.
The clothes were a bit big on John, and the pants wouldn't stay on. He shrugged and kicked the pants to the side. He joined Brian in the bed. Brian turned the lamp to the side off and got himself snuggled into the blankets. John curled up against Brian's back.
"Could he be any cuter?" Brian thought to himself. But he couldn't help but wonder about him. Did he even have a room to sleep in? Did he only bring one pair of clothes to wear? Brian decided it was best to wait and worry about it in the morning.
