Angelo POV
I am at my dad's house for the week but I forgot my laptop at my mom's house. I told my dad that I was going to walk over to her house because it is across the street.
When I walked in the house no one was downstairs. But I knew they were here because both my moms and Rich's cars were here.
"Mom?" I yelled to see if she would respond. She came down the steps and asked me what I was doing here which was understandable. "I had to pick up something that I left here." I said and walked upstairs.
I was walking to my room and I saw Rich standing in their bathroom looking at the floor holding something. He didn't see me so I just kept walking. He looked confused and scared.
I walked into my room and grabbed my laptop off of my desk and looked around my room to make sure I didn't forget anything else.
I turned off my bedroom light and closed my door. As I was walking back downstairs I noticed that Rich had moved into their bedroom and he was walking around sobbing. Now the thing that he was holding was on the bed but I still couldn't tell what it was. Wonder what is up with him?
I walked back downstairs and told my mom what I saw going on with Rich. She said she knew about it. I said goodbye to her and then walked out of the house back over to my dad's.
As I was walking back over to his house I started to think. The thing that Rich was holding was a white stick and it was blue at the top. I pulled out my phone and looked up that description. The only thing that came up was a Clear-blue pregnancy test. Is my mom pregnant?
"Dad I'm back!" I yelled as I opened the front door. "Hey buddy" he said while he was sitting on the couch. "How was your mom's house?" He asked as I walked over to sit down next to him. "It was actually kinda weird" I said being 100% honest with him. "How come?" "Well when I got there usually there is always someone downstairs in the main area but no one was there so I called for mom and she came downstairs and seemed frazzled and looked like she had been crying. Then when I went upstairs I walked past mom and Rich's room and Rich was standing in the bathroom holding something and looking at the floor. Then when I was walking back downstairs he had moved into their room and was walking back in forth sobbing. When I asked mom about it she didn't seem alarmed and said 'I know'." I said
"Son, I don't know what is going on over there. Do you know what Rich was holding?" He said turning his attention back to the TV. "No but it was a white stick and it was blue at the top." Before I could finish dad turned his head and looked at me. I continued, "I looked it up on my way back over here and the only thing that came up was pregnancy test. Do you think mom could be pregnant?" "Angelo I don't know. It's obviously a possibility. But, why don't we have them over for dinner tonight. We haven't had a dinner like that in a while." He suggested. "Okay"
My dad called my mom and asked if her and Rich wanted to come over for dinner. She said sure and that they would be here around 6.
It's 5:30 now so I made my way downstairs. My dad has ordered pizza because this was kind of a last minute thing.
My mom and Rich walk through the door and they look completely different from how I saw them a few hours ago.
Rich looks like is happy and my mom is also looking really happy. Maybe she is actually pregnant.
"Hey Adele! Hey Rich" my dad said while he hugged my mom and shook Rich's hand.
"Hey baby!" My mom said and hugged me "Hi" I hugged her back.
"Hey buddy" Rich said and hugged me.
We all walked into the kitchen and my mom and I sat down at the kitchen counter.
"So what's new with you two?" My dad asked. My mom and Rich looked at each other and then my mom spoke up and said: "well, Rich and I just found out that we are expecting!" She seemed happy and so did Rich. "Congratulations!!" My dad said and hugged both of them.
I sat there and didn't say a word. I always use to beg my mom and dad for a sibling but now something feels off.
I really enjoy being the only child. And I mean technically I will be the only child out of my mom and dad's marriage but I won't be my mom's only child now.
Don't get me wrong I love my dad and I'm very close with him but I have this relationship with my mom that I feel might get broken if a baby comes into the mix.
My mom brings me out of my thoughts by saying: "Angelo are you happy?" I turn and look at her and say "Uh yeah. I'm happy for you two." I tried sounding really happy but it must've not worked because I saw my mom look at Rich and then down at the floor. "Um alright well the pizza is here so could someone get plates out while I go grab it from the guy?" My dad said walking towards the front door.
Rich walked over to the cabinet and grabbed four plates out for us. "Mom I'm not upset. I promise" I said and hugged her. I didn't want her to think I was even though I am. I don't want her to know that. "Thank you baby." She said and hugged me tightly.
We ate dinner and it started getting late so Rich and my mom headed back to their house and I went upstairs to go play video games.
