"Is it ready?" I ask Sam across the phone.
"Yes it's all set!" Caroline answers in stead and sighs,"i wish Sam could be this romantic."
I chuckle, if only she knew Sam had something even better planned for his own mate.
Nervousness tickles my stomach. I haven't been this excited since my father gave me the alpha position a few months ago.
time has flied. It felt like yesterday that rose finally explained to her mother why she would move to New York for college without me. Now here we are, four 19 year olds in the big apple. It's exciting that I can experience this with my best friend and my mate.
Now back onto the subject. I walk into the roof of the exclusive restaurant on the outskirts of Manhattan. There is a round table, with a white linen tablecloth draped over the top. Candles and rose petals, ironic right, are scattered across the table and a small bowl of cheeseballs, Rose's favorite, is in the middle. I grin. This is hair as I planned.
Jogging back to the car, I lead a blindfolded Rose up a few flights on stairs to the destination. She giggles as I untied the blindfold but the laugh soon turns into a gasp as she sees the scene in front of her. The sunset, candles and roses makes Rose almost cry while she hugs me tightly.
"I seriously love you Ash!" She beams," I have some news."
"Well so do I," I slide out her chair for her," sit."
I quickly settle into my own seat as Rose pops a cheeseball into her mouth. Yet agin I feel nervous.
"You go first," we say in unison.
Rose laughs," mine is pretty important so I'll save the best for last." I doubt it's better than what I have to say. She seems to be bursting at the seams with happiness. Maybe it's just the darkening sky playing tricks on my mind. I release a nervous breath, fixing my black tie.
"Ok here it goes," I mummer to myself. With another calming breath I drop out of my seat and onto one knee. Rose gasps as I pull out a velvety box from my pocket and open it.
In there sits a ring with a small diamond on top. It isn't much but I hope it's enough. I look up at my soul mate to see her crying. I push myself on.
"Rosemary Jane Prior I know we're young. I know we're in college and have our whole life ahead of us but God I want to spend that with you. I know it's not much but I want- need you in my life forever. So I ask, Rosemary Prior will you please be My wife?"
Rose smiles at me through her tears and drops to her own knees and kisses me. She holds my face in her hands and let's her lips linger before I pull back with a grin," is that a yes?"
She nods frantically, hugging me," yes yes yes! A million times yes!" She kisses me again, the force sending me backwards a bit. She pulls away first and let's me slide the ring onto her finger.
"So what's your news?"i ask happily.
"Ashton I'm pregnant."
