Chaturanga
Two opposing sides,
Light and dark glides.
Pieces differentiated in moves,
Yet one purpose it proves. It's life is sacred,
All pieces were supposed to be captured.
Once perished cannot be saved,
Kingdom turned enslaved. If only he was the pawn,
It will never wait till dawn.
Moves one square straight ahead,
Will never back down and leave words unsaid. If only he was the knight,
He'll never jump in fright.
Won't be a coward to make a move,
Or even face the counter move.If only he was the rook,
Castling, a purpose he once took.
His words and moves will be in line,
A powerful move to protect, the fortress was its sign.If only he was the bishop,
Will remain on squares of one single color that pops.
He can be the long-range piece that never misses.
As it can move as far as he wishes. If only he is wise enough,
He will be the defender that's tough.
Strong enough to save the King from capture,
It occurred, "Checkmate," the game is over.~♟️~
