Chapter 1: The Dream
Neon tossed and turned in her bed, the weight of mundanity pressing down on her as she struggled to find solace in sleep. Her days as a doctor at the hospital blurred together in a monotonous routine, of excitement or passionleaving her yearning for something more, something extraordinary to break the monotony of her existence.
Then, one fateful night, she drifted into a dream that felt more vivid, more hauntingly real than any she had experienced before.
In the dream, she found herself in a dimly lit alley, her heart pounding with fear as she faced a man with eyes as cold and empty as the void itself. His presence sent shivers down her spine, his gaze piercing through her soul with an intensity that paralyzed her with dread.
He wore garments that seemed torn from the pages of a fantastical tale, a blend of white and sky blue that billowed around him like clouds in a storm. Long strands of white hair framed his face, falling in perfect cascades around him like a waterfall of silk , while golden earrings and a blue stone necklace adorned his form with an otherworldly aura.
But it was his eyes that held her captive, eyes devoid of any warmth or compassion, shining like molten honey in the darkness as they bore into hers with chilling indifference.
Neon's heart raced as she looked into his emotionless eyes, feeling as though she was staring into the abyss."You have to pay for what you all did to Yato," he spoke, his voice like a whisper carried on the wind, sending a shiver down her spine.
Before she could even comprehend his words, his hands were around her throat, squeezing the life from her with a strength that seemed inhuman.
Neon gasped for air, her heart pounding in her chest. She struggled against his vice-like grip, but it was futile. His long, white hair cascaded around him like a cloak of ice as he leaned in closer, his face inches from hers.Panic surged through her veins as she struggled for breath, the world around her fading into a haze of terror. In the distance, she glimpsed a child with gray hair, lifeless and still, lying among a sea of crimson-haired bodies. The sight sent a wave of anguish crashing over her, mingling with the primal fear that gripped her soul. The scene was a haunting tableau of death and despair, and Neon felt a wave of nausea wash over her.
And then, in an instant, it was over.
With a sudden twist, pain shot through Neon's body as her neck snapped. She could feel the bones in her throat grind against each other, a sickening sensation that brought tears to her eyes.Neon awoke with a start, her body drenched in sweat as she gasped for air, the echoes of the dream still ringing in her ears. She clutched at the sheets, her heart racing as she struggled to shake off the lingering sense of dread that clung to her like a shadow.
"What... what was that?" she whispered to herself, her voice trembling with uncertainty.
Little did she know, this dream was only the beginning of an extraordinary journey that would forever change the course of her life.
