(BONUS CHAPTER PART 2 !!)

FLASHBACK:

"Are you sure they will be capable of getting along? You know Jeffery isn't the... talkative type. And the other children are not so kind to him either."

"Well, we can't leave him unoccupied without a roommate. It's required."

"...Oh Jeffery! Would you give us a minute of your time?"

A small, slim, blond boy with a bowl cut and oversized glasses that were not prescribed perfectly for his face shape, stepped out into the middle of the hallway, making his way to the group of adults that stood respectfully. He tilted his head in confusion, a gesture to ask them what they needed.

"We have someone we would like you to meet." One of the adults turned their head around behind them.

"It's okay, no need to be shy." Suddenly, a redheaded boy peeped his head from behind them, clinging to one of the adults clothing with a very sheepish expression. His cheeks were powdered with a rosy pink and he had deep hazel eyes. He wore a black boater hat that didn't quite fit him with the casual pine green uniform. But instead of pants, he wore shorts that covered his ankles with a pair of long, white leg warmers which was very uncommon for the rest of the Snow Wood Boarding House students to wear. In his right hand, he carried a suitcase filled with luggage.

"Jeffery, we'd like to properly introduce you to Tony, your formerly new roommate."

"H-hello..." Tony said in a very soft-spoken voice.

Jeff didn't respond. He only extended his hand out for a proper handshake out of politeness. Tony requited and they shook hands.

"We'd like to ask of you to show him around the academy, get him familiar with the school. You can do that right?" Jeff nodded his head and obliged by leading Tony to a different area of the building.

"Do you believe they will be alright?" Another uneasy adult that sat on one of the couches chimed in.

"Don't be so paranoid, I'm sure they will be. I even bet Tony can nudge a few words out of that poor little boy." They all laughed simultaneously.

After the tour Jeff gave was over, he guided Tony back to their dorm room. Tony was in awe of everything he witnessed, but I think the most astonishing thing he noticed was how quiet and aloof his new roommate was. He hadn't spoken a word this entire time. Jeff pointed to a simple bed with white bedsheets in the far left corner of the room, implying that that was Tony's bed.

Tony threw his suitcase onto his new bed and unloaded his luggage while Jeff went to go sit silently at the desk that huddled in the other corner. Electronic bits and crumbled papers covered the wooden floor around it along with a toolbox. Tony was expecting for him to say atleast something, anything really but he didn't. He got anxiously curious and followed him over to his desk to see what he had been writing. It was all blueprints and geometry pages he had no way of understanding, no matter how hard he tried. Jeff didn't acknowledge the redheaded boy staring down at him as he studied and kept on writing with his dull pencil. Tony inaudibly watched every little thing he jotted down out of curiosity. After a while, Tony felt like he just had to say something.

"What are you working on?" He asked in an attempt to get Jeff to utter something. Still, nothing. Tony sighed and tried once again.

"It seems really cool! I like the little drawings too." The sketches were of a detailed mini rocket that had small descriptions of what each singular part was designed for. He couldn't read it very clearly as Jeff's handwriting was cursive, very neat and proper.

"Thank you..." Tony was startled by the sudden quiet voice. He didn't actually expect an answer to come out of the blond boy. He debated on whether or not to carry on with the conservation but he did anyway.

"Mhm! I'd uh... Like to know more about it. B-but of course, you don't have to tell me. I know I can get very nosey.." Tony nervously stuttered. Jeff spun his head around to face him. Tony waited patiently for a response.

"You'd... You'd really like to hear about it?" Jeff quietly mumbled in true shock. Tony nodded his head in agreement with a warm smile. Jeff cleared his throat and spun back around.

"Well... I call this a Bottle rocket. It's uhm.. a prototype at the moment but I plan to upgrade it into something spectacular." He then went on into full detail of how it operated with Tony by his side, listening in bafflement and amazement of how someone could truly be this intelligent. Jeff wrapped up his explanation to see Tony's expression. He suddenly felt a feeling of regret, like he had bored him or weirded him out.

"I-I'm sorry.. I didn't mean to ramble on like that." Jeff quickly apologized, turning away his flustered face.

"What? Oh! Nonono you didn't bore me one bit, I promise. It was actually fascinating!" Tony exclaimed.

Jeff was honestly surprised hearing that. He settled down and his eyes averted back to Tony. He felt a positive energy slowly rising in him the more they stared at each other. He felt like he could talk to him for hours with such ease now. Usually, all the other children picked on Jeff for being a four-eyes and an extremely nerdy boy. So, he would isolate himself from everyone, in fear of being different from anyone around him. He feared if he had shared his opinions, he'd be bombarded with other negative views or ignored which happened commonly. But Tony was different. He wasn't like them. Infact, Jeff could almost say he had a heart of gold.

"I'm Jeffery Andonuts but I prefer to be referred to as Jeff, if you don't mind." Jeff properly introduced himself.

"That's a nice name! I know you already know me, but I'm Tony!" Tony happily smiled, showing that he meant no harm.

"Would you like to be friends? If that's okay with you?" Tony titled his head keenly.

"That'd be nice." Jeff stood perpendicular and stook out his hand for another proper handshake. He slowly let a smile creep to his lips, he hadn't felt like this since... ever. Tony ignored his offer for a handshake and instead went for a hug, wrapping his arms around the blonds waist. Jeff was severely caught off guard by this and was ultimately confused. He didn't know the reason behind it but his face began to blush a cherry-red, extremely.

"Uhm.. what are you doing?" Jeff asked, not in a rude way but just in a disoriented way.

"Giving you a hug! Oh, sorry... Are you not comfortable with them?" Tony asked empathetically.

"No I just... don't know what that is." Jeff confessed. He had never experienced a hug before. Even his own father never offered to give him one.

"Oh my! Well, a hug is something you offer to show affection! It's like telling someone you care for them deeply but nonverbally, if that makes any sense." Tony explained.

"It does. I appreciate the explanation." Jeff responded.

"Oh boy, I have to explain a lot of other things if you don't know what a hug is." Tony laughed. The boys chatted all day without a care in the world. They spoke about numerous topics and by the end of the day, they both knew they would experience a lifetime of memories together. Nothing was going to be capable of separating the two.

"Incredible... everything did turn out just fine. I haven't heard Jeffery complete a single sentence since the first time he arrived!" One of the adults said in astonishment, watching the two boys from afar.

"I told you. I even betted that Tony would be able to squeeze a conversation out of him and look at where we are. Though, Jeffery seems increasingly more volube if you ask me. That redheaded boy is a miracle!"

PRESENT TIME:

Ah.. now Tony remembered. It was a very pleasant day for him. It also the day that convinced him not to be so shy with others. Jeff suddenly pulled Tony out of his prolonged daydreaming.

"I've decided to continue a project I've been meaning to complete but never got the chance to. I was wondering if you'd like to contribute in it?" Jeff asked in a calm and polite manner.

"Oh Jeff... that sounds lovely. Of course I would." They both jumped off of Tony's bed to go gather the parts Jeff needed for his mysterious invention. Tony knew it would most likely be useless but he didn't care, as long as he got to be apart of something Jeff was in. Tony truly did have a heart of gold...
