Development had begun on an RPG with Rina Tennoji, a Rina-Playing Game they called it for the time being. The game seemed quite ambitious for a school project and a team of 3; a story-driven 2D-HD urban adventure through the school and Odaiba itself with a 3-person party. Why make an ambitious RPG in three weeks was anyone's (except Rina's) guess, but at least Summer break started next week.
The development session began after school. Shizuku came to the idol club room, finding Rina already hard at work; Mia would come in later since the college was in the main city. Hunkering down, they stayed glued to their screens, or paper in Shizuku's case, and remained hard at work as the constant keyboard clicks and rubber erasers continued through the day. There were the occasional breaks, but there was no time to waste time. And when the clock struck 8 PM, the girls finished their session. They'd recount the progress they made, maybe head down to the vending machine to buy a drink, and then leave for the night.
...It has been two days since the start of development. Rina had finished the initial concepts for the characters and the first town's layout. Mia completed a few drafts of the battle themes and the 'get item' jingle, and was now dabbling in sound effects. Overall, it seemed good progress was made in the musical and gameplay departments.
Shizuku had done jackshit. The writing department was in shambles.
At the round table, a loud thud proceeded, followed by a bellowing moan. Rina peeked over her screen, seeing Shizuku with her head on the table.
"Rina-chan Board: YIKES!" Rina held up a sketchbook in front of her face. Drawn onto it was a cartoonized picture of her face, the eyes replaced by large Xs.
"Where are the ideas!" Shizuku yelled, ruffling her hair out of frustration.
"So, the writer's block got ya, huh?" Mia suddenly asked as she walked up to the distressed writer.
Shizuku began to pout. "It's not that! It's just been two days and I can't think at all!"
"Girl, that's writer's block. Anyway, you consulted Rina about it?"
Shizuku shook her head in response. "I would, but she said so herself: 'I write code, not Shakespeare.' And then we left it at that."
"Yeah, that's completely fair."
"Quite unique, isn't it? A 3-person RPG rather than the typical 4. Is it to make it more focused?"
"No, it just cuts development time," Rina interjected, having overheard the conversation. She was still staring at her screen.
"My babe's quite efficient at planning, isn't she?" Mia bragged. She only propped up people she actually liked.
Yeah, no. Shizuku shook her head and sighed, "That honestly just sounds like she's not doing the work," she added.
"Speaking of not doing work, why don't you look at her screen? She's done modelling the hero character and also showed me the villain's cape, which was pretty sick."
"Is that going to help me? And besides, aren't you a writer as well? I'm sure you can give me some guidance, right?"
"I write music, not Shakespeare," Mia replied, a bit prideful. "Anyways, I'm going for burgers. You want any?"
