The lock clicked on the bathroom door of Estella's dorm room and she heaved a sigh, what an eventful evening, threats from Nathaniel and the marauders acting all chummy with her. For her first prefect patrol it had gone pretty shit. As she pulled off her uniform she avoided letting her gaze fall onto the mirror, she didn't want anymore reminders of what Nathaniel's threats could lead to, she already had the consequences burnt into her memory. The scars and purplish bruises that ran across her body were nothing compared to how battered and bruised her mind was, and it was all thanks to dear old Granny and Grandpa.

Washing off her makeup and slipping on her soft pyjamas was like entering her own little corner of heaven. She slunk through the darkness, past Harper's bed where she could hear the girls snoring drift through the air, and under her comfy sheets. A soft breeze made the hangings of her bed dance in the shadows and through the open window she could see the stars glittering above, with a deep sigh Estella turned her body so it snuggled further into the covers. The day had been long and tiring, with an end that left Estella feeling panicked beyond belief, she felt sick and wished the feeling to disappear, why did Nathaniel have to be such a twat, and why couldn't she have her other grandparents back, the ones who loved her for her differences and imagination. With a horrible feeling in her stomach the girl retreated to the land of dreams, where no brothers or grandparents could hurt her.

The next morning was a sombre affair to say the least, after Estella's eventful night and most unsatisfying sleep she was in a dreadful mood and spent most of the day in a hazy dream world, she was dragged out of it enough to see that her friends were not having the best day either. Harper had clearly woken up on the wrong side of the bed, the girl snapped at every little thing, Issy was quieter than usual, probably due to the letter she'd received from her parents that morning, and all Maddy and Hugo did was complain the entire day.

"It's ridiculous, I mean I've been on the team since 2nd year and now they're deciding to get rid of everyone and try all positions on the team, it's ridiculous!" Hugo shouted over the ruckus of Lunchtime chatter, it seemed the new Ravenclaw captain had already gotten on Hugo's nerves.

"I'm sure you'll get on again Hugs, you're one of the best Chasers this school has ever seen!" Maddy tried, patting the boy's hand sweetly.

"Apart from James Potter, who is the best chaser Hogwarts has ever seen." Estella didn't need to pay attention to know Harper was receiving a deadly glare from Maddy.

The weather outside was mimicking the group's lousy moods, thick dark clouds shrouded the world in gloom, and by the end of lunch it began to rain. The five friends made their way out of the hall, parting ways with Maddy who was on her way to history of magic with the Slytherins while the four Ravenclaws prepared to brave the outdoors in order to get to Herbology. As they walked the wind began to pick up, hair blowing in people's eyes, skirts and cloaks flapping in the wind, so much so that both Issy and Estella had to hold theirs down to make sure they didn't flash anyone. Once in the Greenhouse the four found their way to seats, prepared to write notes on self-fertilising shrubs again, only for Professor Sprout to tell them to pack away their notes for today.

"I know we've been going over the self-fertilising shrubs and we will pick that back up in your next lesson, but I thought I'd treat you all today. If you'll all gather round this table I'll show you what's just arrived." The scraping of chairs and quiet chatter filled the greenhouse as students made their way to the table Sprout was talking about.

Estella and her friends headed to the front to have a peek into the many open topped boxes on the table, in each of them seemed to be mounds of dirt and moss, with the classic red and white spotted toadstools, at first Estella was confused, these weren't very magical, until she noticed them moving, leaping in fact. She let out an audible gasp as one leaped up to her eye-line, other's shrieked and stepped back from the table. Issy on the other hand, inched closer to the table in order to get a good look at them, her eyes sparkling with excitement.
