Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles - The Next Generation

Chapter 4

Well, my dad and uncles didn't want to hear about the ninja exactly, but they were glad we told them. when we got back, we found my dad, Raph, and Mikey in the kitchen. We told the m the whole story, with comments from Mikey.

"Ha-ha! 'Deja vu much?' I like that!" he laughed when we got to that part in the story. Raph and my dad- and pretty much all of us- glared at him.

"this is no laughing matter, Mikey." raph said.

"That's what I said!" Taylor exclaimed. I rolled my eyes and my dad turned to me.

"Valerie, are you absolutely sure?" He asked for what was about the 10th time.

"Yes Dad, I'm sure. the ninja looked exactly like you told me. They were Foot Clan ninja. Shredder's ninja." A shudder went through the room when I said that name. Shredder had been bad news when my dad and uncles were our age. he had been destroyed a little while before I was born, so I never had the pleasure of kicking his butt.

Raph banged his fist on the table. "But that's impossible. All those ninja were iether captured are went into hiding after... Shredder was gone." He muttered.

"Yea, and those guys are too stupid to tell themselves what to do." Mikey remarked.

Taylor clapped her hands together. "So, we track them down and find out what they're up to?" She asked eagerly.

"Not yet." I said. "We'll have to ask Sensei what we should do before-"

"Ask me what?" A voice said in the dorrway. there was my Uncle Leo.

Leo didn't become the Sensei by choice. He was kind of forced into it. When Raph hesitated earlier before he said "after Shredder was gone", I knew that he was going to say; "After Splinter died." Sensei Splinter gave his life to ensure taht shredder was destroyed, so I never met him eighter. Splinter's death had created a sore spot in my dad and uncles, especially in Leo. When the girls and I formed the team, Leo, as the oldest, became the Sensei. But anyway, ELo , was all, "Ask me what?" waiting for us to stop shuffling our feet awkwardly and tell him what was going on.

Just to get it over with, I launched into the story a second time. Leo listened patiently until I was done. When I finished, he still didn't say anything. I could tell he was thinking. Then he sighed.

"I actually agree with Taylor on this one. We need- you four need - to find who the Foots are taking their orders from." He said.

Then several things happened at once; Athena and Tawny high-fived, Raph and Mikey congratulated us on our first real mission, Taylor punched her fist in the air in victory, and - much to my annoyance - my dad jumped to his feet and began to protest.

"Leo, are you crazy!?! They're just kids!" He exclaimed. I rolled my eyes. "Dad, we're 15 and 14! We can take care of ourselves!" i argued.

"Valerie, you could barely get away the first time! what's going to happen the next time?" He said.

I scowled. "Dad, first of all, they caught us by surprise. Second, you can't just keep treating me like a little kid forever. We are perfectly mature teenage mutant kunoichis. We will be fine!" I retorted.

My dad started to argue again, but Leo cut him off.

"Donnie, Val's right." He said. I smiled. I knew that with Leo on my side, I had won this battle.

"The girls are perfectly capable of looking after themselves. They'll be okay ,don't worry." My dad sighed, then nodded. Then leo turned ot me.

"Go find the Foots and see who the boss is." He ordered. "But for your dad's sake, Val, be careful."

I nodded. "Hai, Sensei." i said. "Come on, girls." I turned and walked towards the door, pausing to look back at my dad. he refused to make eye contact. I sighed and rolled my eyes. ten i walked out, the girls following me.

Once we were outside, I crossed my arms and looked at my team.

"Honestly, you'd think my dad would be more mature than that." I complained.

Athena laid a hand on my shoulder. "He's just worried, Val." She said.

Taylor looked at us. 'Well, let's go kick some ninja butt and show him that he doesn't have to be worried!" She said to me.

i nodded. "Taylor's right. come on." I said. And we took off.
