Chapter 10

I opened my eyes. I was in a strange room that I'd never been in before. Where was I? Was I dreaming?

Suddenly, someone waqlked out of the shadows. A man, with armor and a scary-looking helmet on. I gasped.

"Shredder?" I whispered. That's it, I was dreaming.

Then everything became blurry and out of focus. Shredder spoke, his voice echoing.

"We must destroy the turtles, at all costs." He said.

Somewhere behind me, a girl's voice said, "Yes, Father."

Shredder's image faded away, as did the strange room.

Out of nowhere, I was sitting in mid-air, floating through space like an AWOL astronaut. Another figure came towards me; a man-sized rat wearing a robe and the cane Leo always carried around.

"Grandfather Splinter?" I said in disbelief. I was surprised at myself; I had always imagined calling him Master Splinter or Sensei, but Grandfather just felt right.

Splinter smiled at me slightly. "Do not forget what you have seen." He said. "Dark times are coming; the past is to repeat itself. Keep your family and friends close, my granddaughter." He said. I smiled. I always imagined him calling me that. Then I grew serious.

"Wait, past is to repeat itself? What does that mean?" I asked.

"I cannot say. Just remember." He replied. Then he faded away.

"Wait-" I said, reaching my hand out. Everything was fading fast. I was in complete blackness, falling through space, just falling...

I woke up with a gasp.

"Whoa." I said. I checked my bedside clock. 5:45 am. I scrambled out of bed. I had just enough time.

I caught my mom just before she left for work. (Yes, my mom has a mutant husband and daughter and lives in the sewers and has a normal job. How else are we supposed to pay for all that pizza?)

"Mom!" I said. "You have to hear this."

She sat down as I told her about my dream.

My mom covered her mouth with her hand in surprise. she sighed. "Val, I think your spiritual sensitivity is growing."

I gasped. Spiritual sensitivity is a supernatural gift that all master ninja learn to use eventually. It's extremely powerful, and for most people, takes them a long time to learn how to harness it. It basically allows you to tap into the universe. My mom's sensitivity was a natural gift. I guess mine was too.

"Mom, this is awesome!" I cried, extremely excited.

"And convenient; your grandfather was trying to warn you about something; something to do with Shredder." My mom replied, suddenly serious.

"Yeah, I wish I knew what; the past is to repeat itself..." I murmured.

My mom sighed and stood up. "I'm sure you'll figure it out, sweetheart." She gave me a hug. "Stay safe, keep an eye on everybody, and don't let your dad get on your nerves." She said, smirking at me.

I laughed. "See you tonight, mom."

When she left, my dad and Leo walked into the room.

"What are you doing up?" My dad asked.

I looked around. "I... could ask you two the same question!" I replied.

My dad raised an eyebrow; or, he would have, if turtles had eyebrows... He made the motion, anyway. "We heard voices."

I rolled my eyes. "I was just saying bye to Mom. Nothing to get up for!" I replied. I yawned really loudly. "I'm off to bed you two; you might want to so you're fully rested when the girls and I wake you up later!" I walked past them back to my room.

I wondered if I should've  told them about my vision. Then I thought, nah. They'd just be annoying me with questions and Leo would probably go into a depression because I talked to Splinter and he didn't. Yeah, I'd better keep this to myself for now.

I probably should've known keeping it to myself was a bad idea. I was going to need as much help as possible for what was to come.
