All I ever heard was yelling. It lived in my head, my chest, my ears, it lived everywhere. Anger was the best friend, the soul mate to the yelling. He was like a lion, his voice so loud the whole world could hear. It boomed through the sky, breaking the sound barrier and carrying it's way into the galaxies above.
I smacked my head back on the door trying to make the voice go away. I was sitting in a ball, against the door of my room, crying. I wanted it to stop. The stress builds up on him. Then he explodes like a volcano. The volcano of Pompeii that killed thousands of innocent people.
It wasn't fair, it wasn't my fault. It was his own damn problem.
I stood up slowly, grabbed my IPod, earbuds, and black lace up boots that I bought at a second hand store. Wiping my eyes I took a shaky breathe. I opened the door and snuck down the stairs to the back door where my bike was.
I fixed my black and white plaid flannel. Opening the back door, running to my bike and hopping on. I drove onto the uneven road that seemed to always be forgotten by the township. They tended to spend the money on stupid stuff instead of filling in potholes.
I'll just go to the park, I thought to myself. I can just sit on the old Merry-Go-Round and think. Hoping to be unbothered by The Rapids.
The Rapids are a group of guys that sit at the park and pray on kids like me, they like to play football and baseball and mess around like the stupid average teenage guys they are.
I usually bribed them to leave me alone most of the time. Sometimes it doesn't go so well. . .
The music blared in my ears, I bobbed my head slowly to the beat. Some people watch, some people pray. But even lights can fade away. I hit the brakes a little bit at a time as I flew down the hill. I shifted to gear 4 to keep my fast pace. I went around the curb and up to the path through the forest to the park.
I stopped my bike, hopped off, and guided it through the path. I leaned it against the fence and walked into the park. I re-shuffled my music and walked to the Merry-Go-Round. I spun it a few times, stepped on, and sat down in the middle while humming to the new song.
In The End when we're fading through the night.
I smiled to myself and scooted to the edge of the Merry-Go-Round and started to slow it down with my feet.
"Hey loser, you're on our turf, do you have your pass?" Tucker said to me.
"No, and if you could Tucker, please shut the hell up. I'm trying to listen to my music." I said sassily to him.
"You're asking for it May, what will it be today?"
I shrugged my shoulders, stood up, and started to walk away.
"Where do you think you're going slut?" He grabbed my arm and I turned around and glared at him sharply.
"Slut? Excuse me, but you're the slut here. You sleep with a different girl every week Tucker."
I pulled my arm from his grip and started to run. I heard his footsteps behind me, but they started to slowly fade. I used to be the best runner in middle school. I grabbed my bike and went back to the road, where I sat at the intersection watching the useless traffic light go from red to yellow to green.
I felt my phone buzz in my pocket.
