*five years ago*it'd been three weeks since the passing of george's parent's death
he wasn't taking it well, he had been wearing the chain they gave him since he was told
but he decided to take it off for a bit, it was really irritating his eczema
so he put it in his book bag before lunch, thinking nothing about it
dream and george happened to share a locker, dream took it as a chance to grab george's chain
dream put the chain in his pocket, looking around to see if anyone saw
he closed the locker and got in line to head down to lunch
the class walked down to the lunch line, sapnap behind him
they stood waiting in line to begin to move, second graders had to go before the older kids
"sap" dream said tapping sapnaps shoulder, "what's up?" sapnap asked
"i stole his chain" dream whispered in sapnaps ear
"george's?" sapnap asked in a quiet voice, dream nodded with a smile
"can i see!?" sapnap said excitedly
"look" dream said, taking the chain out of his pockets
"that's cool" sapnap smiled
-
it was the end of the day, george finally realized the chain was missing
"It's not in there, i put it in there!" george said to the teacher, tears threatening to spill
"maybe you didn't bring it to school" she said "i did! i took it off" george said
"well maybe it'll appear tomorrow" she said
"b-but that chain was important to me!" george said "i know honey, but i can't do anything" she said
"the cameras? there's camera's for a reason" george said
"well the camera's don't go that far, it's impossible to see who took it" she said
"what if it was dream, he's my locker parnter" george said "let's go ask him then" she said
they walked up to dream, he'd knew george would find out so he gave the chain to sapnap for the moment
"clay" the teacher said "yes miss?" dream asked as he put way his computer
"did you take george's chain?" she asked "um no?" dream lied, george knew he'd been lying
"stop lying! give it back!" george said, pushing dream "no i didn't" dream said
"george, stop, there's no evidence that clay took it, we'll just deal with it tomorrow it's time to go" she said
once she left george began to accuse dream again, but this time he didn't bother denying
"you took it, please just give it back dream" george said wiping the tears off his face
"you heard her, there's no evidence i did it, you're parents have money so i don't get why it's such a big deal" dream said
the bell rung, there was no time left to talk to dream it's time to go home
-
"george- what's wrong?" george's brother, lucas asked
"s-someone stole my chain" george cried "who did?" lucas asked
"some boy, miss williams won't do anything about it" george said as he choked out cries
"It's okay, i'll talk to her tomorrow after school" lucas said, before walking off to the kitchen
lucas's girlfriend, julia came by after work, she sat down next to george as he hugged his teddy
"georgie what's wrong?" julia asked "he stole my chain" george explained
"i'm sorry baby, lucas will try to get it back okay? don't cry" julia said bringing george into a hug
"o-okay" george said
*the next day*
lucas had the talk with miss williams after school
she wasn't able to do anything about the situation since there was no proof
george felt even worse, he hated dream,
he hadn't done anything to him so why would dream to anything to him, george thought
he just wanted his parents back, and the chain was the closest thing he had to them
but of course dream had to take it, it wasn't dreams first time taking something from george
he had taken many things, george never really cared though because as dream said, george's parent's had money
but this time it was different, the chain was important other than the things dream took
the chain had value to george and dream had the audacity to just take it
