IF HER DAD WAS THE LORD OF THE DEAD, DID THAT MEAN ARA COULD ALSO INFLICT DEATH WITHOUT LEAVING A TRACE?
She definitely hoped so, cause, at that moment, a certain someone was approaching her, his eyes too fixed on her for just a passer.
"Hey, Ara." Luke's voice made her last bit of hope disappear. "I'm so glad I've caught you..."
"Can't say the same." she sighed, not making eye contact.
"I've wanted to tell you that, after breakfast, the whole Hermes cabin will have sword practice. I was hoping you would join us today."
Oh, she was so gonna enjoy denying one of his wishes.
"Yeah..." the redhead pursed her lips together. "You can hope as much as you want."
"Come on, we could use your help." Luke spoke in such an encouraging voice, that it made Ara wonder why he wanted her so desperately to join them. It wasn't like anyone liked her...
"And it's been a long time since you have trained with us. It would be nice to have you around. Especially for Isa..."
And there was the twist...
"Yeah, I'll pass."
Luke exhaled. The girl would have thought he had gotten the message a long time ago, but he still seemed persistent in bringing the two sisters back together. He was a perseverant fool, there's no doubt.
"Just think about it. And that's not all I wanted to talk to you about..."
Ara rolled her eyes, "So this is how the Fields of Punishment feel like..."
As always, the boy ignored her and asked anyway, "I wanted to ask about the plan for Capture the Flag. I haven't had the chance to speak to Annabeth yet."
"I've not made any plans with her, and I probably won't..."
"Ohh, I thought-- Sorry, I thought you were playing, even if Isa said you probably wouldn't want to..."
"Oh, no, I want to..." Ara interrupted him, "I just despise being on the same side as you." she raised her shoulders in a 'sucks to suck' kind of way and gave him a look that said 'hope you got the idea, idiot'.
Luke's eyes got bigger. He must've not taken her possible side-switching properly, for he knew that having Ara as an enemy meant the possible loss of Capture the Flag. Not only was she a good strategist, but she and Annabeth thought similarly, which only gave her the advantage of knowing all their plans before they even applied them. It would've been a turn of events that would disfavor the blue team.
"Seriously? That's what this is all about? You would sit this game out or turn to the Reds just because you'd hate to see me win at the same time as you...?" he spoke, revolted. "You wouldn't even help Annabeth, your friend, win?"
"Annabeth can handle Capture the Flag on her own, I'm sure of that. And, if you don't win without me, which, unfortunately for you, is most likely, your teammates can blame you, and that would be amazing to watch." she smiled, satisfied.
