This was the single greatest moment in Ezora's life

Why did it have to happen right after someone almost killed her?

She felt the wind blowing across her skin, rushing through her hair, tugging at her clothes as the street passed beneath her. Maybe she wasn't in the drivers' seat, but all the same, she was flying!

Lola, unfortunately, wasn't so taken. All the way she kicked and screamed, trying to pull herself loose. It was difficult to blame her in the circumstances, though all the same she was making this a bit difficult.

They dipped from the sky and into the city streets below. Darting over traffic and between buildings, changing direction as much as possible, crisscrossing so that the town came and went between blinks. There went the temp agency. There went her apartment. There went the freeway.

It reminded her a lot of riding the Turbo Tunnel at Colossal Gardens. On a full stomach. And boy was it full right now. She wasn't sure how long the good feeling would keep it down. Thankfully, when the water tower swerved into view, it stayed there long enough to catch the three of them, two in an exhausted heap.

The metal groaned under their combined weight, easily more than six hundred pounds between the three of them. Ezora didn't feel so weightless anymore.

Lola meanwhile got back to screaming and trying to run away. The long-haired woman was already up and holding her by the back of her robe.

"Where you going?"

"Away from you!"

"Run all you like after ve talk."

"Talk! Oh great, talk! Me and your friend had a nice long chat!"

Ezora stepped around in front of her. "And Shanara blew her up a building With Her ASS! What does that tell you?"

"That 'Shanara's' a crazy bitch!" Another tug, and the robe ripped down the back. Ezora and the woman apparently named Shanara grabbed a chubby arm and started dragging her back.

"You wanted answers, didn't you?" said Ezora. "Don't walk away from them!"

"Better idea, let go, and I won't bill you for the house!"

"I not fly you out zis far to vatch you make hole in dirt," said Shanarrra. "You kannot valk avay vith Nang still out zere. You need to underrrstand vhat happened to you – "

"I! Don't! Care!" Lola roared, throwing out her hand, and aiming a fist into the mysterious woman's face...only to be pinned to the tank.

"I come from place called Urup," she said calmly. "As in Urup Unlimited?  You have one, da?"

She reached a hand into her meaty cleavage to reveal a pink frosted donut. The most aggressive offering of a snack in human history, Ezora considered.

Hesitating, Lola accepted it nonetheless. "Yeah, a few. So, you work for them. The hell does that have to do with anything?"

"Don't tell me..." said Ezora.

Shanara looked at her. "Tell you vhat?"

"We got powers from... eating magic donuts. Oh my god."

Another hand brought another donut. Chocolate with sprinkles. Despite it all, Ezora stuffed the whole thing past her lips in one bite when offered. Bit sweet, but she wasn't about to complain.

"Zat not exactly it," said Shanara. "Lola, vhat Nang... partner of me... what did partner tell you? She say anything about jirrryu?"

"Between smacking me around? Um, she said nothing had changed, or something?"
