Neglected Prototype

We took a leave of absence from the field when we (he/she) was born, so none of us went to work during the first four years of our child's life. After our child's quirk assessment my husband returned to the hero world so I stayed home taking care of (him/her). 2 years later I joined my husband in the field. We thought we could return to the old routine.

It was fine at first, we would leave home just to come back after a couple of hours.
(He/She) would go play with their friends during that time and when we returned we would be greeted with a huge smile and hugs.

But, then those few hours turned into half a dozen, then half a day. As the years passed we saw (him/her) less and less until we couldn't see (him/her) at all.
We could only talk to (him/her) on the phone, but even that didn't last long as video calls turned into voice calls, and voice calls turned into nothing but texts & voice messages.

We didn't even realize it that we hardly went back home, and when we did it was when we were tired. We rarely saw our (son/daughter), we didn't know what was going on with (him/her) nor how (he/she) was doing.

When did you notice that they was missing?

You know, (he/she) is such a good & kind child that (he/she) always left a note on the kitchen counter for us when we came home late and couldn't see (him/her). Even after we bought (him/her) a device to help us communicate (he/she) never stopped writing those little notes for us, sometimes I would find many sets of notes for the days I didn't return.

But one day they just stopped, no pile up, nothing, that was 3 weeks ago. At first I thought (he/she) outgrew the routine, but after a few days I noticed (he/she) stopped replying to the message I sent (him/her).

We returned home only to find an empty house. We checked (his/her) room which looked even more deserted. We checked with the neighbors and friends but no one has seen (him/her) it's like (he/she) disappeared, that's when we called you approximately 2 days ago.
