─────── BEFORE EVENTS OF DAMSEL

The royal kitchen before Alya exudes
grandeur as usual, with gleaming copper pots and pans lining the walls, marble countertops, and intricate tile work.

She glazes over the space where food were to be prepared, where culinary masterpieces were going to be created for the royal family feast and future banquets. Royal insignia and crests adorn the walls around her, reminding her where the kitchens' wealth and status originate from. She flattened her apron along her red plain dress as she stood with the other maids, listening to Anita's commands.

Alya wouldn't lie to herself. She was scared, intrigued, and even downright fearful of what's to come when meeting the royal family face to face again. No doubt the Queen hates her guts, given the slap her majesty laid on her light-complexioned skin a couple of hours ago. She also had to learn many rules within little time, so the thought of messing up at some point in front of them shakes her to the core.

"The only viable reason as to why we are here so early in the evening is because we have a new maid implemented to the royal house." Alya was taken out of her thoughts as Anita's voice wonders off. She finds the older woman looking into her eyes, as expectedly as if she needed to respond back.

"Um," Alya started. She gulped at the maids in the line beside her left and right look at her. "Hello."

Anita laughs stiffly and grabs intricate plates, and passes the stack of plates to Alya. "Here, why don't you start off. Very simple task, the tinted plates are of the royal family, and then the rest are for the princesses family. The six of us will ready their entrées here until the chefs come along."

Alya nods and then grabs the plates, huffing as the weight makes her shift to lean on one leg more than the other. She walks towards the doors with an insignia indicating it belongs to the Queen's bloodline.

Walking out, she it greeted with the riches the family expressed in their dining hall. In the royal dining hall, towering marble columns rise to meet a vaulted ceiling adorned with murals depicting the royal family present and past rulers. Massive chandeliers hang from above, accompanied by crystals chains, hanging just above seven feet over the mahogany refectory table. Royal blue draperies in rich hues of crimson and gold frame the tall windows along the decorative walls in the hall. Allowing glimpses of the sprawling palace gardens beyond. At the end of the room, a majestic throne-like chair sits atop a dais, reserved for the Queen herself. Surrounding the central table, plush chairs upholstered in sumptuous fabrics await the esteemed princesses family and royal family, each adorned with the royal crest meticulously embroidered in gold thread along with being plastered in royal blue.
