"YALA" someone called while knocking on the door. "I don't want to talk," I said into my pillow. The door opened and I sat up. Smithers came in with a worried look. He sat beside me as we stayed quiet. "Are you okay"? He asked laying his hand on mine. "NO," I said standing up. "Do you know what they're doing? My mother. The elders?" I asked.

Smithers brushed his hand against his neck "No. Your mom told me you were upset about something". I scoffed pacing angrily "Upset doesn't even dare to explain what I'm feeling. They want to treaty with the Fietere" I choked. Smithers gawked at me like I grew a third head. "Why" he said standing up. I moved to close my door and looked back at Smithers.

"The Bescle want our land. My mother said their army is larger than ours. We won't be able to deal with them on our own. So, we must" I swallowed. "Use the Fietere army" I gritted. Smithers folded his arm pondering over my words. He dropped his arms with furrowed brows. "They're right". "Right," I repeated.

"It's a good strategy and it seems to be our only one. I understand you hate them so do I. We all do but our people need to survive. We must associate with them" he explained. Defeated and annoyed I sat back on my bed. Smithers is an army commander he would know  best.

I laid my head on his shoulder "I thought that the next time I saw the guy who killed my father I would rejoice in watching the light drain from his eyes but now I have to watch him smile as we work alongside together" I teared up.

Smithers wrapped his arm around me kissing my temple. "Think of it like this. You play nice for now and on the battlefield. I will kill him if you don't have the chance". I looked up at him with a smile and he pulled me closer. "Why don't we go to your favorite spot" he grinned. I nodded wanting to release the stress and anger.

It took a good hour and there we were. The lake. There was a small waterfall and greenery all around. It was beautiful watching the sun hit the water. It shimmered and danced. Smithers stripped until he was in his undergarments. I watched him jump into the water and smiled. "You coming"? he asks.

I peel away my clothes leaving my bra wrap and undies. He blushed diving his face into the water. I cannon bawled causing the water to cover him. I laughed coming up and pushing my hair back. However, I didn't see Smithers. I floated moving around reminiscing on the old times. There was a day we hosted when everyone came to the cove. The clove was a huge watering hole where we installed ropes and swings. There my father taught me how to swim. One day Smithers and I went off on our own.

This beautiful place. Our own secret spot. My pulse quickened and I looked around. "SMITHERS" I yelled. When I turned around I heard him cackling loudly. I frowned wrapping my arms around his neck.

We wrestled playfully in the water until he gripped me by my hips. I laid flushed against him pressing my hand on his chest. He tilted his head leaning in. Our noses rubbed together and my breath grew heavy. His eyes locked on mine and he kissed me. It was gentle and protective. He picked me up and I wrapped my legs around his waist.

I moved back eyes glaze and body a fire. "Can't breathe" he smiled. I nodded feeling shy about what just happened. "I like you" I blurted. He laughed taking us up to the grass. He sat beside me shaking his hair. "I hope you do since you let me kiss you. I hope you know like you, too" he brushed his hand against mine. I couldn't hide my smile nor could he. We let the sun dry us off then headed back.

People were running around in a hurry causing Smithers and I to stop with confusion. "There you are" a maid huffed. She pulled me dragging me away. My mother looked at one of my oldest drawings I drew on my wall. "Mom," I said coldly. She turned around watching me move to the other side of the room.

I leaned against my desk. "So, what's all the chaos for and what do you want" I say getting to the point. My mother's lips twist and she continues. "We're going to Fietere. We will be having dinner with their King to officially cancel our deal with them". "What if it's a trap"? My mother held my hand "We have to have faith. They need our resources. I had a scout check before I agreed. But all I want to know is will you come with me"?

I slipped my hand from my mother sighing. I pace thinking back to Smithers. I turned to my mother "I will do what I must for our people".
She smiled proudly "Get ready. We leave tomorrow at first light".
