A Glimpse of Glow

Y/n's POV

I was writing down my entry for the day in my journal while sitting on a high tree branch with my pokemon partner, Eevee or Eves as his nickname, was sleeping on my lap. My entry wasn't much, I just wrote down things that I did today like training my Eevee, feeding some berries to bug-type pokemons and doing more sketches of them. I don't quite make a lot of human friends because...some of them didn't work out well. Anyway, as I was finishing up, I heard a few kids trying to catch a wild Nidorino. They tried to throw another pokeball but it just bounced off it. I felt like I wanted to intervene when suddenly a familiar trainer with a red cap approached them.

???: Hahaha! That's not how you catch pokemon! If you want to catch a pokemon, you gotta weaken it first. Only then you can throw the pokeball.

I watched as the trainer got in front of the wild Nidorino. I have watched this kid a few times to admit he is one of the best trainer I have seen but only in Pallet Town. I believe that his name is Red. He throws out his pokemon which was a Poliwhirl.

Red: Alright, watch carefully! Poliwhirl! Water Gun!

The pokemon then shoots out water out of its white palm at the wild Nidorino. After the sudden attack, Nidorino became dizzy as it couldn't attack back in its current state. 

Red: Now that it's weak, I can throw the pokeball to catch it!

Red then throws a pokeball at it before it got shrunk and stored in the pokeball. We all watched as the pokeball moves three times before a ring noise was made. Red smiles as he quickly walked towards it and holds it into the air.

Red: Hahaha! I caught Nidorino!

The kids cheered for Red before he gave the pokeball to the them. I guess he got some skill but I believe he still has a lot to learn before he could actually be the best in Kanto. I decided to get ready to go back as I packed up my stuff and put Eves in my hoodie before taking off, jumping from branch to branch.

3rd POV
As Y/n left with his Eevee, rustling noise was made that was noticed by Red. Red was still being complimented by the kids around him, he felt Y/n's watch on him which made him intrigued who was the mysterious watcher. He snapped out of his thoughts when one of the kids asked him a question.

Kid 1: Hey Red! Do you know Professor Oak?

Red: The old man that lives at the town's edge? What about him?

Kid 2: Well...

Kid 3: People say he's an expert when it comes to pokemon.

Kid 1: Maybe he can teach how to catch some...

Red: (smugly) You don't need that old nut! I'll teach you everything you wanna know!

Kid 2: Maybe...

Kid 1: But they say that he taught his grandson to be one of the greatest trainers ever!

Red: (looks at her) Grandson?

Kid 1: Yeah! He just got back from his trip overseas where he was studying pokemon.

Red: Pffft- I don't care who he is! He wouldn't stand a chance against me!

He said with full of pride as he holds up his pokeball with his Poliwhirl inside, not caring whoever he faces and determine to win against anyone. After awhile, the sun begins to set as the kids said their goodbyes to Red before they left to their homes. Red went out for a walk, thinking of what the kids said about Professor Oak and the mysterious person who was watching from the trees.

Red: Hmm...old Professor Oak, eh? I wonder if the person watching me was his grandson or something. They seemed pretty weird up to the old man's standards...

Red was too in thought which causes him to look where he's going. He suddenly bumps into a man who was wearing all black with a 'R' shaped logo on his uniform. The man looked pissed as he turned to Red.

Grunt?: HEY!!! Watch it, you maggot!!!

Red was surprised by the grunt's sudden outburst, taking a step back from him. The man then walked away to a group who were wearing the exact same uniform as him at the entrance of the western forest. Red was about to let mind their own business when he saw a set of pokeballs around the man's waist.
