The Secret of Kangaskhan

Y/n's POV

 It was the next day after meeting with Professor Oak and receiving a pokedex from him. Right now, I was back at his home, getting ready to go on this journey. Eves was also helping me by putting a few small berries in the bag as I was putting on suitable clothing for my adventure. I walked in front of Eves in a new attire. I was wearing a f/c jacket over my white shirt, a pair of jeans and sneakers. 

Y/n: What do you think, Eves?

Eves looks at me with sparkling eyes before nodding, making me smile. I then walked over to my desk to pack the last items to bring with me such as potions, antidotes and a map. I then took one last glance at my home and noticed Eves had a sad look on its face. I then rubbed his neck, knowing we both missed this place and wouldn't return for a while.

Y/n: Don't worry, Eves. We will be back here and by that time, you'll have new and great friends to play with afterwards.

Eves seems to think about it before making a happy noise with a smile. I smiled as he hopped into my hoodie, gesturing he was ready to go. I climbed down the tree as I remembered Professor Oak saying that Viridian Forest was the first place to capture some good pokemons for my journey.

~Flashback~

Red and I were back in the professor's lab since he wanted to give some last advice for our adventure.

Prof. Oak: Red, Y/n! If you two expect to input any valuable data into the pokedex, you can't stay here. You two need to expand your territory!

Y/n: (holding Eves in his arms) Well, okay then. But where do we start?

Prof. Oak: Hmm...why not start with Vidirian Forest, north of the city? You two are bound to find pokemons there that you've never seen before. Besides, that happens to be where...(stops himself before laughing) Ha! Nevermind!

Red and I looked at him confused but shrugged before we left to go back to our separate homes. I noticed that Red has been staring at Eves for a while now and it's making the pokemon uncomfortable. I then decided to intervene.

Y/n: Is something wrong, Red?

Red: O-Oh sorry for staring at your pokemon but wasn't he injured from that wild Machoke? He seems already fine for some reason.

Eves and I instantly froze up when he asked that. I looked at him with hesitation and a nervous smile as Eves looked away.

Y/n: O-Oh...um well, I just gave Eves a potion to heal him! Yeah, that's it! You were admiring your new pokemon so much that you didn't see me use a potion on Eves!

I said nervously with Eves nodding at Red nervously. Red could only look at us with a confused look before responding.

Red: Okay? Do you usually bring a lot of potions instead of pokeballs? I thought you were the type of person who already has a lot of pokemons and catches more of them as a hobby.

Y/n: Oh, no. Not really. Eves has been my only pokemon ever since I was 5. He and I have quite a tight bond with each other.

Red: (smiles excitedly) Really? That's like me and Poliwhirl! (takes out the Pokeball and looks at Poliwhirl inside) He and I met by the side of a pond when I was walking around. Well, he was Poliwag when I first found him. Over time, he evolved into Poliwhirl as we began battling other pokemon. I also thought he was strong enough to take down anyone so that's kinda why he's my only pokemon.

Y/n: I see...Well, we should probably get back to our homes and get up early in the morning to head into the Vidirian Forest.

I started walking away before Red called out to me. I turned to him.
