— My evening with Guillaume was absolutely perfect, concludes Eve after an hour, her eyes full of stars.
— That good?
— Yes! she exclaimed.

I took a sip of my drink and shook my head, smiling. Aurore came over to ask if we wanted anything else to eat or drink. As the café was very quiet, she could chat with us for a bit. Looking at her closely, I noticed that she was looking better. Time was helping with her grief.

— Er, hesitated Eve, I'd like three more pancakes, please.

I watched her in amazement, given that she had already gobbled down five of them twenty minutes before. She had always had one of those appetites but had never ordered so much food.

— I'm good thanks, I said to Aurore before turning my attention to Eve. Well, you're as hungry as a wolf!
— What do you want me to do about it?
— This wouldn't have anything to do with the fact that you spent last night with Guillaume, would it?

She smiles as she drinks her smoothie.

— Well, maybe, but it could have something to do with the fact that I'm also going to see him tonight.

I tilted my head to one side.

— Wow, three evenings in a row!
— Yes, my God, that guy really gives me butterflies, not just in bed, but even when we're talking about anything and everything.
— You've hit the jackpot girl.

She was about to answer when my phone ring interrupted her. I took it out of my pocket and saw that it was Daniel.

— Liz, are you home? he asked me breathlessly.
— No, I'm outside, is everything all right?
— I need a secure connection, my connection at home is no longer secure, I don't have the time to secure it, my family lives too far away, my friends aren't at home and it's very urgent, he continued. Is it...
— Come to my flat, I cut him off. I'll be there in ten minutes.
— I'm already at your door.

Although I would normally have found this strange, as I knew Daniel, it must have been extremely important for him to act in this way.

— Oh.

I then gave him the password to my Internet box so that he could connect to it from my doorstep and hung up, saying I'd be quick.

— I've got to go, Eve, I said hurriedly.
— What's wrong? Is Daniel all right?

I put on my jacket.

— Yes, yes, it's just an emergency. But how do you know it was him?

She laughs.

— Your smile. Go on, then, we'll talk later.

I ran and arrived at my flat  ten minutes later. Out of breath on the second floor, I saw him typing frantically on his computer keyboard, a pair of glasses on his nose. Wearing a blue shirt and trousers, he looked so concentrated that I didn't dare speak to him. I must admit that he was really handsome. After finally putting my hand on his shoulder to get him to move away from my door, I opened it. He didn't look up from his computer and, straightening up slowly, walked in.

— I'll talk to you as soon as I've finished, he says, sitting down on the floor in the middle of my living room. Someone's life depends on it.

I just nodded so as not to disturb him anymore. To tell the truth, it warmed my heart that he had called me. It must have been something to do with his work, since he'd told me he was working on cases with the police. All I could hear was the sound of the keyboard, he was typing on so fast; the noise was so loud that it almost managed to hide the sound of his rumbling stomach.
I changed into comfier clothes before making him pancakes with bacon and a fried egg. When I placed the plate and a glass of orange juice next to him, he looked at them, then put his computer down next to him.
