It's been sixteen LONG months without Hesh. His duty required him to be gone for a rough mission.
Y/n had lonely nights, silent mornings without him by their side. The days seemed to start to blend together, and what made is worse was the no contact he was under.
Y/n was starting to lose hope that Hesh would be back anytime soon. They hoped to whatever God there might be for his safe return, back into their arms.
A stormy night had fallen deeply onto the town, and Y/n laid peacefully in their bed with a book cracked open in their lap.
A glass of white wine to relax after a stressful day, and soft music on the stereo.
Lightening illuminated the room as they read. Minutes pass and then Y/n heard the sound of the front door opening.
They quietly set down their wine glass and book, then silently tiptoe towards the entrance.
Their heart was racing, thinking someone might of been trying to rob them. Their heart never expected to be greeted with the sight of a soaking wet Hesh.
Y/n's hands fly to their mouth in shock as they run up to him and throw their arms around him. The chuckle he emits creates a soft rumble in his chest that they knew all to well, and missed.
"I'm home, baby."
Y/n cries softly into his chest, all the emotions of missing him spilling out all at once. Hesh drops his bag to the floor as he wraps his arms around Y/n and lifts them up.
They never let go of each other as he carries them to the bedroom. He lays them down onto the bed gently as he strips from his wet clothes and immediately wraps his arms back around them.
He lays his head on Y/n's stomach as he sighs deeply.
"I missed you so much."
Y/n's heart was overjoyed and they were sure he could hear it from the way it was pounding in their chest.
"I missed you too."
