"I hope I never see you again!"
Those weren't the last words he thought he'd hear from her, from the love of his life.
That day he knew he broke her heart by kissing another woman at the bar. He just wishes he wouldn't of been so idiotic in that moment.
He picked up that black velvet box that was to be hers. A diamond ring, simple, but she liked the simple things.
His footsteps crunch the leaves under his boots as he walks up the path, he has to see her once more but he doesn't know how she would feel.
His footsteps thump lightly as he makes his way up the grassy slope.
'There she is.'
A somber smile adorns his face as he steps up to her. The black velvet box held tightly in his hand as it trembles.
"Hi, my love"
The sun was slowly setting, casting a warm golden glow over the different rows in the tranquil cemetery. The air was filled with a gentle breeze that made the leaves of the trees dance to a somber song.
Admist the silence, a lone soldier, Soap, stood with his heart heavy with longing and sorrow. He didn't have the courage to come see her before, but today was different.
Today he came to visit his angel, Y/N.
As he stood at her resting place, memories of their love flooded his mind. He remembered their first meeting, the way her eyes would sparkle when speaking about something she loved. They had fallen deeply in love, like two strings that are impossible to untangle, until he ruined it that night with a drunken mistake.
Fate had dealt it's cruel hand to them, and Y/N had been the one to come up all Ace.
Kneeling beside her grave, he brushed his fingertips across the engraved letters of her name, wishing he could call her by it just one last time.
He could still feel the warmth of her touch, the softness of her lips against his. Tears caught in his eyes as he whispers so quietly.
"I miss you so much, my love."
The soldier closed his eyes, allowing the memories to wash over him like a bittersweet melody. He remembered their walks in the park, hand in hand as laughter filled the air, her beautiful laughter. He remembered their stolen kisses under the moonlight, their hearts pumping as one.
As the soldier sat there deep in the thoughts of what could of been, a soft breeze tickles his cheek.
As if Y/N was still there, he swears he could hear her soft whisper in the wind, encouraging him to find happiness once again. She never did stay mad long. With an even heavier heart, Soap stood and took one last look at that granite stone as he placed the ring box at the base of it.
"Until we meet again, Y/N."
