When things officially went to shit was the night you brought your boyfriend over for dinner for the first time.

Everyone was sitting silently around the dinner table, your mother as usual toying around with her food while glancing down at her crossword puzzles but Kai, he just kept staring across the dinner table at your boyfriend with this stare that was scary.

"So do you follow any politics?" Kai asked, breaking the awkward silence that was lingering between everyone.

You watched as Kai feverishly cut into his steak, not bothering to look away from your boyfriend.

"Uhm I don't really have a stance"
"You poor boy" Kai tutted while stuffing a piece of meat in his throat.
"Oh I mean I just don't have an opinion on it" your boyfriend stated shrugging his shoulders and glancing over at you.

You wanted to run knowing Kai he was going to start something.
"How do I expect you to take care of my daughter if you don't have opinions?" Kai asked intensely, looking your boyfriend in the eye.
You shifted uncomfortably in your chair glancing over to your mother who finally looked up from her puzzles.
"Kai please" she interjected flatly, clearly done with his bullshit.

For the rest of dinner, Kai basically grilled your boyfriend causing an uproar between your mother and him.

"I don't get why you need to question the poor kid!" Your mother shouted, causing you to wince and sulk in your chair.
"It's none of your business" Kai seethed, glancing over at you. You locked eyes for a moment and then looked away, feeling confused.
"Y/N I think I should get going" your boyfriend said from beside you, he excused himself walking his dinner plate to the kitchen.
"Oh my god you don't have too" you mom chimed in, smiling at your boyfriend watching as he left the dining room table.
"Yeah he does" Kai spat, snarling at your mother.
"Kai! Can't you be normal for once?"

You dismissed yourself walking past Kai with your dinner plate and gasped as you felt his hand reach out and grip your wrist stopping your motion. You glanced at him, raising an eyebrow.

"I have something to show you come to my office after you're done with-" Kai couldn't finish the sentence, he looked strained to have to say boyfriend.

You shook off his hold and brought your plate to the kitchen catching a glimpse of your boyfriend with his head in his hands leaning up against the counter.

"Your step dad is intense"
"I know I am sorry"

You walked your boyfriend out to his car and kissed him goodbye through the window. When you turned around to head back to your house, you saw Kai standing on the porch with a cigarette in his mouth.
As you approached, you noticed he didn't look too happy.

"Did I do good?" Kai said in a mocking tone as you approached the porch.
"No you embarrassed me" You said with not even thinking, wishing you could retract it but you can't.

You watched as Kai gave you an intense look and just nodded, taking a drag of his cigarette.
"Oh I embarrassed you?" He asked, he said it like he didn't want you to answer.

"Yes" you whispered.

Kai discarded his cigarette into the wood from the banister and flicked the butt away, he looked at you and crowded you, looking down at you.

"I just want what's best for you" Kai stated in a calmly manner, throwing you off guard. Your breathing became audible as it was becoming heavy as he made you nervous.

His hand came up to clutch your chin, making you looking directly at him.
"What are you afraid of? I know you want to kiss me"

You gulped, flicking your eyes to his lips. Your body must've been on autopilot because somehow, you were inches away from each other with your hands planted on his chest.

"Kiss me come on I don't bite" Kai whispered, teasingly giving you a smirk.

You both jolted jumping away from each other when suddenly the front door opened and in the doorway appeared your mother in a robe.

"Isn't it cold outside?" Your mother asked glancing between the two of you.

Your heart was pounding so fast you couldn't comprehend what she just said so you pushed past her heading towards your room, startling her.
