                                                       A Fragile Connection

The sun hung low in the sky as Jaime stepped onto the familiar path leading to the quaint cafe located on the corner of the bustling street. It was his birthday, a day that had once been filled with laughter and celebration, but now carried the weight of loss and longing.

With each step, memories of his mother flooded Jaime's mind, her laughter echoed in his memory. It had been their tradition, to visit this cafe every year on his birthday, to cram down her favourite strawberry cheesecake and take a pause from everything in the world by enjoying the warmth of each other's company.

As Jaime pushed open the door, the familiar scent of freshly brewed coffee and sweet pastries enveloped him like a comforting embrace. The cafe was alive with the gentle hum of conversation, patrons savoring the simple pleasures of good food and good company.

And then he saw her.

She sat alone at a corner table, her features illuminated by the soft glow of the afternoon sun filtering through the window. She had been sunkissed. Her hair cascaded in waves of chestnut brown, framing a face that seemed to radiate with an inner light. Jaime felt his breath catch in his throat as he approached, his heart quickening with each step."Am I in love God?" he asked himself.

As he drew closer, he caught her eye, and for a fleeting moment, time seemed to stand still. Her gaze met his, a smile playing at the corners of her lips as if she had been expecting him all along.

"Hi," he said, the word barely more than a whisper as he pulled out the chair opposite her. "Mind if I join you?"

Her smile widened a warm and inviting gesture that washed over him like a wave of comfort. "Please, be my guest," she replied, her voice soft and melodic. So, Jaime sat, his heart pounding in his chest as they exchanged laughter and shared stories of their lives. At that moment, amidst the hustle and bustle of the cafe, he felt a connection unlike any he had experienced before.

As they talked, Jaime found himself drawn to Elle in a way he couldn't quite explain. There was something about her, something indefinable and alluring that tied at the corners of his soul.

As the afternoon stretched on, Jaime knew that he had found something special in this chance encounter, something that had the power to change his life forever. He felt happy. As though they were meant to be. It was as if everything he went through vaporized to thin air as he saw her. They started spending more and more time together and they could almost see each other's complexion in one another.
