This starts off in the weirdest of places with a shy "guy," but I am getting ahead. The girl was dealing with another person who was blantly a cheater and had anger issues. Who she can't leave because of policies in place. So she always has a guard up. Today will be different, and she doesn't even know it. In walks in this shy "guy," and he has an issue with staring, being out of it, and over all, it looks like a lot is troubling him. The only difference is that this guy has wonderful eyes with a slight sadness that pulls at her heart string. Honestly, she thought she was getting heartless, but seeing this person brings out her protective side, and she wants to genuinely see this person smile. So she decides to come up with a game. They just keep taking photos of people with weird faces, and eventually, their talking becomes a daily thing. They share all the horrible thoughts going. She starts feeling like she has a true friend to talk to. This isn't a love story, and honestly, I don't even know if both characters even know they will be in love because as far as thus person knows she just made an amazing friend that doesn't truly know what they bring to the table and she can understand that herself because she has the same problem. As she and this person get close though, she feels strong enough to assert her boundaries with the other person. As they grow closer though the person leaves thier significant other. Even though this probably wasn't because of her. All she can think is part of the reason they left the person was her fault.
