((This chapter is based off the timeline and history on how my OC knows the museum and its characters.))
Grace Daley was only five years old when her parents took her to the Museum of Natural History for the first time. Grace had an odd fascination for history. And ANY kind of history. She was into Egyptians...pirates...cowboys...cool animals...etc.
So it was no surprise when she was climbing up on the T-Rex's leg and the manager yelled at her mother. It was no surprise that she wanted to play with the miniature dioramas but just kept getting fingerprints all over the glass. She was taken to the museum almost every weekend!
And then her parents divorced after Nicky was born, and then she was less able to visit the museum. School interfered sometimes, but then they took field trips to the museum and Grace was all over it. Then High School turned up. Grace was a hard working student. She was able to drive herself to and from the museum now. She thought that the fake stuffed animals and the wax figures were the only friends she had, considering that no one liked her at school.
Finally, after what seemed like forever, her father, Larry, got a job. What made her even more excited for him was that he was the new night guard for the museum. She was only sixteen at the time when her father took her and her brother, Nicky, in for work one day. It was there did Larry discover something about his daughter...she wasn't scared to beat an old man like Cecil with martial arts skills that she had 'forgot' to mention to her dad. When Nicky turned the tablet on, Grace's eyes lit up like fireworks, in awe at how every figure that she grew up loving came to life.
And it was on that night when Ahkmenrah remembered her. She was the only child ever, in over his fifty years of being here, to visit the museum more then once. The Pharaoh realized how much she actually loved the museum. He noticed how different she was and therefore, gave her the ability to shrink her size to be as tall as her two favorite exhibits, Jedediah and Octavius.
At first, when she first met them, she was shy and nervous to meet the two heroes. But they welcomed her warmly and even let her drive their toy car once. All three agreed to never tell Larry that his daughter enjoys joyriding.
Jed and Octy remember Grace from way back when she was five. They remember her fogging up the glass in front of their displays. They remember her in her pigtails, staring up at her father and begging him if she could play with the toy soldiers and cowboys. And when he'd say no, Jed and Octy remember how she'd use to cry like a baby. At first, the three of them treated each other like siblings. Two older brothers looking after their little sister. But, it was Octavius who was first to recognize what was really going on between Jed and Grace.
But then she started getting ready for college at age eighteen, and Larry had quit being a night guard to start up 'Daley Devices'. For two years, Jedediah was sour, because he was angry at the Daley's for leaving like that. Octavius tried to help his friend, but he didn't know how. When it was time for some of the displays to be shipped to the Smithsonian, Larry and Grace had been able to say their goodbye, but not the way they hoped.
Jed was keeping a grudge, even at the last minute before sunrise. He didn't talk to Grace, or didn't even look at her for that matter, and it made her irritated.
"Fine, don't say goodbye to me. Just remember that you'll never see me again because I'm not moving to Washington just for you!"
But he did get to see her again. He called her the next night when he got to the Smithsonian. He begged her and Larry for help as he and the others were attacked by Kahmunrah. Grace was worried sick the whole time at the airport, wondering of what became of her friends.
Halfway through the next night, Jedediah was captured while he tried to escape with Octavius. When Larry and Grace were brought back to Kahmunrah a second time, they panicked at the sight of Jed in an hourglass. When Grace struggled and try to free him, they bound her to a chair and threatened Larry that if he didn't figure out the combination to the Underworld, they would kill his daughter and his friend.
