He didn't know what to do.

A thousand people had died there, at least. They were still counting the bodies.

And it was all his fault.

He downed the entire glass of whiskey, grimacing at the bitter taste of the alcohol. His career was over.

The massacre in Tehran would surely be linked to Operation Shapuri Bridge. And after that, they would hold him responsible for the attack. He had planned it. They were protesting against the presence of US armed forces, and he would give them a lesson. But he didn't expect that so many people would die. It was supposed to be just a warning...

A woman entered the bar and sat beside him. She wore a grey suit and clasped her hands on the mahogany counter.

_Hayes? You are CIA's Director of Operations, aren't you? – The woman asked.

_Who wants to know?

_ My name is not relevant. What matters is that I have a deal for your freedom.

He turned his face to stare at the glass in silence. She persisted.

_ My organization is interested in your potential as CIA director. I heard you're one of Mulligan's favorites.

_ Miss... You're wasting your time. Soon enough, I'll be the last person he'll want as a successor.

_ You mean... they'll find out about the Azadi Square attack?

He turned to her.

_ My organization can make your problems disappear. But in exchange, we'll need one thing from you.

"Full cooperation."
