LISA
I found myself in a hurried situation rushing to the restaurant on my motorbike. My father had meticulously arranged a dinner at a fancy establishment and I was fuckin' running late. The worry of potentially upsetting him filled my thoughts as I navigated through traffic and attempted to reach the venue as quickly as possible.Upon arriving at the upscale restaurant, I promptly asked the valet to park my motorbike ensuring its safety while I attended the event. With a sigh of relief, I proceeded to the exclusive room where my father and other guests awaited my arrival.
"Hey dad, I'm sorry I'm late. I run with some activities at school." I lied, where in fact I just waited on Irene.
"It's okay. You can sit here." My dad calmly said and I just settled beside him.
My acting mother is also present and is sitted next to my father. Acrosss us is a two woman. The other woman seems to be a late middle-aged and the other one seems to be on my age. They looks like a mother and a daughter.
I glanced at the woman who looks to be on the same age as mine. Her makeup style had a fierce cat-eye look with coral blush on her cheeks and natural pink lipstick on her lips.
"I would like to introduce to you my youngest child, Lisa Manoban." My father started.
"Lisa, this is Mrs. Kim." My father introduced me to the old woman. I smiled and bowed at her. Of course I knew her. She was the CEO of the luxury clothing brand not only in South Korea, but around the world.
"My daughter here must have this xx appearance but she has xy chromosomes." Dad said that made them chuckled. "And Lisa, meet Jennie Kim, your future wife." I raised my eyebrow on my father's statement.
"What do you mean future wife, dad?" I asked him.
"You and Jennie will be having an arranged marriage. Your engagement party will be announced in no time." Dad said while sipping the glass of wine.
In that emotionally charged moment, when my father disclosed the news of my arranged marriage without consulting me, I found myself unable to voice my thoughts and feelings. The room seemed to freeze and I could feel my heart pounding in my chest. A whirlwind of emotions surged through me - confusion, anger, and a sense of betrayal. Despite my strong desire to express my opinions and seek clarification, I remained silent, grappling with the shock of this life-altering decision made behind my back.
"Hello, Lisa. I hope you're going to treat my daughter right." Mrs. Kim said that made me snapped on my own thought.
"Of course, she will. She doesn't have a choice." My father chuckled. I just look at him.
That girl named Jennie Kim remained silent and busy eating. She didn't even gave me a single glance.
"I think I have to go. I still have assignment to do." I excused myself, the air is suffocating.
"First day of school and you already have an assigment?" Dad asked me.
"I guess, we have. Let's go, I'll go with you." Jennie finally talked before she grab her purse. She walk ahead and I just follow her.
"I don't like you." I told her when we were outside the VIP room.
"Do you think I like you too?" She scoffed.
"Well, at least you know that. You should cancel the engagement party." I told her but she just raised her eyebrow.
"Why don't you do it? Besides, you have the chance to resist but you didn't talk."
