The day had ended well for me and I got back home. It was dark out and the stars were covered by clouds tonight. As I walked in, I locked the door for the night and got into my bedroom. I then set down my bag and took my shoes off.
My hair was a mess, so before I got into my nightgown, I brushed the tangled strands of hair until it was free of knots and such. I made my way to the kitchen after getting dressed and got some water as usual. It felt like a routine to me now.
I drank the cool water with a slight smile as I then remembered about the radio sitting on the dining room table. I immediately felt a spark of joy and rushed into the dining room, seeing the box still in the same place I left it. I ran my way over and started to open up the box, excited to get the radio out.
When I did get it out, I threw the box somewhere and set the radio down, looking at it with a big smile on my face. Now, I wonder, where I should put it. I looked around the room and thought if I wanted to put it anywhere else in the house, but no, the dining room was best.
I picked it up and set it on a decorative table that was on a wall behind the table, right in the middle for all to see. Right away I added in the batteries included and turned the main dial on. Then it broke into sound, specifically music. It was jazz.
My day just got a lot better as I then started to dance around the dining room, very happy with my purchase and glad it worked. It was a whole new experience for me to have a radio of my own. My parents never had one for some reason, but now I do.
It was fun as I danced around my house. I twirled into my kitchen with a big smile and grabbed an apple off the counter, taking a bite into it. While humming, I took bites of the apple until I noticed the visitor outside. It was a doe, probably the same one I saw last time.
I stopped dancing and quietly opened the back door. I slid out onto the back patio and watched the deer walk around, its neck craned over and eyes peeled for any danger. After a few moments of examination, the deer concluded I wasn't a danger and that they somehow remembered me.
The doe stepped over to me, sniffing my hand that had the apple. I smiled and held the apple out for the deer. It gratefully nibbled on it as I watched in fascination. "So you came back. Huh..." My eyes twinkled with admiration as the doe finished it off, even the core. It then started to sniff me, getting a knowing of my scent.
While it sniffed, I cautiously raised a hand over its head and petted the deer's back. When I did, the deer's tail started to almost wag? I never knew they could do that, but it seems they do like pets as well.
A giggle escaped my lips as it shoved its nose into my stomach. It was very funny to see this deer be so curious. I continued to pet it and wondered if it would go inside. Possibly it would. I mean, it did come up to me, so maybe it would follow me.
I turned from the deer and went to the door, opening it up and putting a wood door stopper down. As I moved into my kitchen, getting some lettuce from my fridge, the deer walked right in beside me, coming right by the fridge.
A big smile was present as I then fed the lettuce to the deer. It was nice to have company like this, even if it was an animal. "You're so cute." I cooed at the deer, reaching my hand and petting it some more. "Do you have a name? Ah, obviously not. How about I give you a name. We could be buddies." I thought about it for a moment and then came up with a name.
"How about Maggie the deer! It fits well and we could be M and M or like M x2. Hah, okay that's a little silly." I scratched Maggie's ear and her little tail wagged some more. I just then remembered that the radio was still on. With a few steps, I made it into the dining room. Maggie followed behind me, obviously curious to where I was going.
The music filled my ears again as I walked over to the radio, turning the dial. "I remember Alastor said he is on a lot, so maybe he headed back over? I don't know, but I want to see if I can find it." I said to Maggie as she stayed put by my side, watching me struggle to find the station.
It took a few minutes of hopelessness, but I did find it. I turned the dial a little more, hearing as after a bit of static, a voice came through. "-late night folks. Have you heard about the New Orleans Devil? It seems they have struck again. Just released this morning, a man was found in an alley dead. More info on this in the morning folks." I definitely knew this voice to be Alastor's. Even over the radio, he had a distinctive kind of voice, unlike some others.
What interested me now was this New Orleans Devil. I didn't know there was a killer loose. It freaked me out, especially since I come home late. What if I got killed coming back home? No, I shouldn't worry too much. The police will probably find the person and plus, it would be a low chance of getting killed out of so many people in the city.
I patted Maggie on the head and heard as Alastor then said goodnight to all the listeners on the radio. As it ended, I shut the radio off, keeping the dial in the same spot, wanting to listen on tomorrow as well. Maggie looked up at me with big eyes and it made me stifle a laughter. I bumped noses with her and gave her a little kiss on the muzzle.
"Alright honey, it's bed time. I gotta get some sleep." I said to the deer, guiding her back outside. She came and walked back into the grassy backyard, taking a look at me. "Good night Maggie." I said as I then turned around and took out the wooden door block. The door shut behind me and when I looked out the kitchen window, Maggie was gone. I nodded and yawned as I then made my way to bed.
I hopped into bed and grabbed the covers, pulling them over me. This time when I looked out my window, the stars were covered, but the moon could be seen surfacing behind the clouds every now and then. My tired eyes blinked and I saw it come out once more.
My goodness is the moon beautiful.
