IT WAS nearing the end of September. It had been a full month since Eleanor came back to school and her third year was far different to any year before. Umbridge was making her - and everyone else's - life harder than it needed to be. After declaring that Hogwarts was in a state of disrepair, the woman was given privileges of a teacher and more, she seemed to enjoy her superiority over the student population and put in place many rules that infringed on students freedom around the school.

For example, one rule Eleanor wasn't overly fond of was that everyone had to sit at their house table during mealtimes. This meant Eleanor couldn't sit with her best friends but rather was stuck next to her roommates. It wasn't all bad though, Gwen sometimes came over to talk with Claire which meant Eleanor was dragged into a conversation with the girl. Not that the Jones' girl minded. She rather enjoyed the blondes company, she was smart, funny, pretty - not that Eleanor was paying extra attention to her - it was purely something she'd noticed. Gwen seemed to capture Eleanor's attention wherever she was sat more and more now that the Jones' girl wasn't being entertained by her friends.

Speaking of friends, her and Spencer ( plus Victoria on the mornings she was up early enough ) had started eating breakfast in the kitchen together as their own little rebellion against Umbridge's rules. Eleanor enjoyed the mornings she spent there, the house-elves were lovely, it always smelt nice, and she didn't have to listen to the high pitched laughs and coughs from Umbridge that somehow overpowered the noise of the great hall while she ate.
