"Master, how long are you going to support Master Li?"

Support?

Why use this word?

Li Hongrui was surprised when he heard his disciple ask Master Yao: Shouldn't I learn from Master Yao? Why do you say that Master Yao supports me?

"It's almost time, less than a month. Remember to keep him fed, okay?"

Master Yao stroked his beard and gave instructions to his disciples.

Food?

Is there something wrong with what I eat?

Li Hongrui's mind was now filled with doubts. He did not quite understand what Master Yao and his disciples were saying.

His mind told him that he should leave, as he might not be able to bear what was about to happen, but his body was frozen in place, unable to move.

But what they said next made Li Hongrui feel horrified.

"Master, can you give me some of Master Li's meat as a reward?"

It seems that this disciple is very much loved by Master Yao. He acted coquettishly with Master Yao but was not scolded by him. On the contrary, Master Yao's tone was full of love.

"Of course, I will think of you." Master Yao smiled and rubbed his disciple's head.

Li Hongrui was like being hit on the head with a hammer. His mind was dazed: Are they talking about me? Are they saying they want to eat me?

Why?

Why??

Why!!!

Li Hongrui didn't dare to listen any further. All he could think about now was how to escape from here.

He can't stay here any longer! He has to leave now!

Li Hongrui understood that it was a mistake for him to come to Master Yao. He originally wanted to ask for help, but he didn't expect that he was sending himself into a tiger's den.

He doesn't want to die! He can't die!

Li Hongrui suppressed his fear and pretended that he was just out for a walk. After walking around the neighborhood, he pretended to be calm and returned to the room that Master Yao had arranged for him.

Then Li Hongrui immediately packed some things into his clothes, and then pretended to be very casual as he walked towards the gate of the Taoist temple.

Li Hongrui looked at the Taoist temple gate that was within reach. Just as he was about to reach out, he heard a faint voice coming from behind him.

"Mr. Li, where are you going?"

Li Hongrui was startled and turned around stiffly, and saw a little boy holding a white lantern.

This child was dressed completely differently from the sweeping boy he saw yesterday.

He was wearing a white robe, his hair was tied behind his head with a red headband, and he was holding a lantern made of white paper with runes written on it that Li Hongrui could not understand.

He didn't look like a child, but rather a traveler staying here.

He was dressed in white and looked like he was attending a funeral, but he stared at Li Hongrui expressionlessly, and Li Hongrui felt his scalp tingling.

The little boy had a pair of eyes as black as ink. He kept staring at Li Hongrui, causing Li Hongrui to urge his body to walk quickly.

"I don't want to go anywhere. I, I just come out for a walk..." Li Hongrui didn't dare to look into the child's eyes. He lowered his head and stammered.
