Ch.10:Reassurance

As the Nicktoons slept, Annie began tossing in turning in her sleeping bag. She was having a terrible nightmare...

Annie found herself in what looked like her city, but was a dark and destroyed one. Dark magic filled the skies. She began looking around, and to her horror, she found skeletons of her friends, her parents, and even Pony. She began to cry. She then heard the voice of Estella.

Estella:Perhaps I chose...poorly.

Then, silhouettes of The Syndicate appeared in front of her.

Vlad:It's your fault.

Plankton:You couldn't save them.

Then the ground around Annie began to crumble. The silhouettes grew to giant size, as Vlad grabbed her. Annie looked to the ground and saw the others.

Annie:Guys, help!

However, they just looked at her with disappointed expressions. The Syndicate laughed maniacally as Vlad brought her closer to his mouth. Anne woke up, gasping for air, covering her mouth as to not wake the others up. She quietly sneaked off to clear her head. However, Miko woke up and noticed her walking away. She quietly followed her. Annie was sitting by herself, trying to calm herself down.

Miko:You okay?

Annie jumped a bit.

Annie:Oh, Miko. Yeah...I'm fine...

Miko:Something's bugging you. I can tell.

She sat next to her.

Annie:Really, nothing is wrong.

Miko:Dude, I have a little brother AND a little sister. I can pick up on this kind of thing.

Annie sighed.

Annie:It's just...I don't know if I have what it takes to be a hero. I mean, you have your tech, Aang has his powers, Jenny has her weapons, Jimmy has his brains. I'm...a nobody. Heck, even Lincoln has some knowledge on stopping villains. Bottom line, I really don't know if I'm cut out for this.

Miko put her hand on Annie's shoulder.

Miko:Being a hero doesn't always mean you have to save the world, or have powers and gadgets. It's about doing what's right no matter what. You and Pony have proven that you're heroes at heart.

Annie:Thanks.

Miko:But, that's not all that's bugging you, is it?

Annie:Before I woke up...I had a really messed up dream...

She then told Miko what happened.

Annie:These thoughts started after Vlad almost killed me. I was so close to biting it.

Miko:No one says hero work was easy.

Annie:It's just...the idea of losing my parents, and my friends...it...it scares me. Like what if we end up failing?

Tears began welling up in her eyes. 

Miko:Hey, hey.

Annie suddenly hugged Miko. Miko shed a few tears herself.

Miko:I know...I'm scared too...we all are...

Her voice was cracking a little from trying to keep it together. Annie began to calm down.

Annie:Thanks Miko.

Miko:Anytime. Look, I know fighting bad guys and saving people is new to you, and Pony. But, honestly, despite a few short comings, you two have helped a great ton. You've had our backs, and we have yours. 

Annie:Thanks. You know, I'm really hopping our parents and friends are okay. When Estella helped us, our parents were trying to fend off some of the soldiers. Right now Pony...he's all I have left. And, don't tell him this, mostly 'cause I want to tell him...he's like a brother to me.

Miko:My lips are sealed. Now, I think we should get back to bed. There's a villain that needs a good pounding tomorrow.

They quietly made their way back to bed and went to sleep...
