You joined everyone for lunch since Howl had quickly head over to the bathroom once he got home. Sophie was more than glad, but she was still reeling from new information she had learned- Howl didn't eat girls hearts... well not literally, at least.

He simply played with girls feelings - going after girls until they fell in love with him. It was just as despicable as eating hearts, in her opinions. After all, he apparently couldn't be bothered by them the second they did fall in love.

As you came downstairs, her curiosity peaked. She wondered whatever might've happened with you. Clearly Howl hadn't simply let you go... Sophie would've thought that Howl loved you, if it weren't for the fact that he went after so many girls.

Before she could even think fruther about what you were to Howl, the bathroom door crashed open.

"Look at this!" Howl shouted, pointing to his hair. "Look at it! What has that one woman force of chaos done to these spells?!"

Your eyes widened at his outburst. Sophie believed that you were frightened, but in truth, you were just surprised. You hadn't seen Howl burst out of a bathroom yelling since you'd first moved into the castle.

Sophie was quite aggravated by Howl at the moment, especially because she believed you were scared. "If you mean me"-

"I do mean you! Look!" Howl shrieked. He sat down on a three legged stool, jabbing his wet head with his finger. "Look. Survey. Inspect. My hair is ruined! I look like a pan of bacon and eggs!"

You watched from the bench as Sophie and Micheal peeked down at Howl's head.

Sophie huffed. "I think it's very nice."

"Nice!" Howl screamed. "You would! You did it on purpose. You couldn't rest until you made me miserable too. Look at it! It's ginger!" Oh. So that was the colour. Yes, Howl didn't really like the colour of that hair. You've never agreed with him. You always thought that it was quitethe beautiful colour. "I shall have to hide until it's grown out! Despair! Anguish! Horror!"

As the room turned dim, you froze. Huge, cloudy, human-like shapes appeared from all corners of the room, howling and advancing towards Micheal and Sophie. "Micheal!" You called out, hoping that he could hear you through the howls, which were getting louder and louder with every passing moment.

Calcifer shrank away, and you yelled at Micheal again, this time louder.

Micheal snapped out of whatever fear filled daze he was under, and grabbed Sophie by her elbow, dragging her to the door.

"Howl," you called out softly, once the door shut. Obviously, your quiet voice wouldn't be heard through the shrieking moans. "Howl!"

Howl shook his head slightly, the grip on his hair even tighter. "Howl!" You yelled even louder. You reached out your hand to him. "Come on! Hold my hand, you'll be okay!"

You hadn't tried this in a while - mainly because you'd barely even talked to him for a while. Howl shook his head more, caving into himself, turning away from the horrid screeches and your voice.

"Howell! I'm here for you! Come on, darling!"

Howl's head shot up to look at you. He looked down at your hand again and then up at your face. You seemed desperate for his answer, for him to reach out and hold the hand you extended. He wanted to reach out, he really did.

But at this point his body was drowning in green slime. He hadn't even noticed - he was sure you had, but you remained unwavering. You didn't cover your nose from the vile smell, and neither did you shrink away from the sight.

Howl had forgetten how much he loved you.

Well, wait - love? That might be too strong of a word.
