VERA

Kaito seemed like the full package and now I wasn't regretting being dragged along. I seemed to have caught his attention, making me giddy when he finally turned to stare at me. I already made up my mind.
He was going to be mine.
I take another sip of my drink as I watch the Sins and so many people flood into the meeting room next door, we could all see what was happening because it was made of glass. I don't know if it was a design choice or a safety-hazard choice.
"Are you trying to eavesdrop?" A man's voice asks next to me.
I turn to look at him, embarrassed. "Uh, no, I was just trying to see what exactly they do there."
He keeps a smile on his face, he looks familiar.
"I'm sure that you'll know soon enough," he grins.
I furrow my brow at him, "Who are you?"
He takes in a breath as he sits down in the seat Kaito was just in and holds his hand out, "Alexander. Who might you be?"
    "Vera," I accepted his hand.
"Nice to meet you, Vera," he winks and raises my hand to his lips.
    Gross.
"Likewise," I try fighting the disgust that might rise in my face or voice. He was handsome, but something about him rubbed me the wrong way. Like warning signs flashing in my head.
"How do you know the Sins?" he asks, taking a sip of his drink.
"Oh, well, I don't. I'm here in support of a colleague," I feel the urge to lie as I shift my gaze to Kaito inside the meeting room. He's sitting like stone, popping glances at his father while watching the two guys speaking. He's so handsome, he's built like a god. He makes every other man look like a troll, besides his father and Yuuki who are just as ravishing, but he is just so breathtakingly attractive. That whole family just has amazing genes.
Alexander turns to look at him, too. "I see. Well, would I be able to interrupt that?"
I stop and look at him, "Interrupt what?"
"You eye fucking the Sins heir, you're not exactly hiding it," he pauses and looks at me up and down. "I'd like to come in between that."
I scoff, "Well, if he is interested in me, you'd be wagering a lot for me, Alexander."
"Just because the Sins run everything, doesn't mean they run everyone," he takes another drink.
It's becoming vacantly clear he has a motive.
"I have a feeling you're not here to get in their good graces," I say.
"Well, cheers to that," he raises his glass. "Isn't that business?"
"What are you doing here?" I pry. He seems very suspicious, but not enough to say anything. Maybe he's just intimidating?
Doubtful. He almost had the same sinister stare Kaito had behind his eyes, but his was much more delirious and desperate. Meanwhile, Kaito's stare had a more powerful and dangerous feel to it. The kind to send a chill up your spine and know that you're being threatened.
"That's between the Sins and I, darling," he says, pulling out a cigar.
    Ew.
"Well, sir," I get up from my seat. "I'm simply not interested in what you have to offer."
"Very well," he takes a big puff as I turn to join my mother and her boring husband.
