Haseena's gaze shifted to Veer's older brother, and her heart seemed to skip a beat. The atmosphere grew heavy as they locked eyes, both unable to find the right words. Tears welled up in their eyes, but they remained stubbornly held back. They stood like statues, emotions swirling within them, yet unable to find expression.
"Ishu-didi, unko andar toh aane toh," broke Haseena and Anubhav's chain of thoughts.
"Hmm," Haseena murmured, stepping backward to allow Anubhav (Veer's older brother) to enter.
In her glance at Ishu, Haseena saw pure happiness. After their parents' death, Ishu seemed truly content. No, Haseena hadn't deprived her sister of anything; she had provided everything. But losing loved ones was irreplaceable.
Anubhav's POV:
After Ishu's invitation to come inside, I entered and sat on the couch. I knew Haseena was in a dilemma. Her father had told her a truth that wasn't the whole truth. She was living a lie, but I knew she wouldn't listen to me. Any daughter would trust her dad.Glancing at her, I noticed how fit she had become, her skin glowing despite the eye bags and dark circles, evidence of her hard work. Her brown eyes radiated both hatred and genuineness. The mole behind her lips tempted me to peck it.
I had loved her younger self, but she had grown even more beautiful and alluring. Not gonna lie.
Haseena's POV:
As I sat there, memories of the past flooded my mind, with my dad's shooter sitting in front of me, casually sipping tea. I felt helpless. Meanwhile, Ishu was in love. But my train of thought was abruptly shattered by a piercing gaze. Someone was watching me. I turned, and there was Anubhav. Anger surged within me. How dare he make eye contact after what happened?I glanced at him, noticing his well-toned body, his fair skin with hazel-brown eyes, his lips... I wanted to taste them. Disgusted with myself, I chastised, "Chii, Haseena, how could you?" But deep down, I still loved him. Now, though, I knew there was no love between us. I hate you, Anubhav. I hate you.
Author's POV:
Anubhav: "May I know the name of you, miss..." he said innocently.
Haseena rolled her eyes, feeling irritated by his pretense of not knowing her, especially after everything that had happened. With a fake, sugar-coated smile, she replied, "Haseena."Anubhav made a satisfactory face and said mischievously, "Matches with your face."
"By the way, would you mind if I talk with you, Ja... I mean Haseena."
Both Veer and Ishu raised their eyebrows, silently questioning what was going on. Haseena subtly nudged Anubhav's foot, causing him to yelp in pain.
"Ouch!" he exclaimed, catching the attention of Veer and Ishita.
"Hmm, Veer and Ishita, nothing much. We've known each other for a long time," he said, glancing at Haseena, who was glaring at him.
Veer: "That's great news, right Ishita?"
Ishita: "Yes."Haseena raised her eyebrows, puzzled by their sudden agreement.
The duo got nervous and fumbled, making an excuse, "You both, friends. We're both friends... hehe." They nervously smiled.
Unsatisfied, Haseena chose to stay quiet.
Anubhav: "Hmm, so miss, can we go outside and talk?"
Haseena widened her eyes and immediately interjected, "No, I'm okay here."
Anubhav persisted, "But..."
Cutting him off, Haseena turned to Ishita and Veer, asking, "So, what were you going to tell?"
Anubhav's POV:
Haseena, I was going to tell you everything. Your chota boss was going to explain everything, clear up every misunderstanding. Our five years apart were going to come to an end, Haseena. But you didn't listen to me.Anubhav's POV ends.
Author's POV:Ishita said, "We've known each other for a long time."
Veer added, "We've been dating."
Their elder siblings raised their eyebrows, getting into a parental stance.
Sensing the tension, Ishita continued, "We truly love each other. Trust us, it isn't a time-pass relationship."
Veer nodded in agreement, saying, "Yeah."
In unison, they declared, "We want to get married now."
Haseena widened her eyes in surprise, while Anubhav was in shock.
The duo exchanged glares before saying, "But you are young!"
"We are mature," Ishita asserted, while Veer nodded in agreement, saying, "Yes, we know what is right for us and what's wrong."
In her thoughts, Ishita reflected on their confession to their siblings, aware of the shock it would bring. "Di is like a parent to me; she took care of me when I was young. But I love Veer; he is a genuine person,"( she quickly glanced at him). "Di, trust me, I won't regret this decision for life."
Veer's POV:
"We have conveyed our love to our second parents. After the death of my mom, my dad left us. And now, what I have as a family is my bro. And now, I am going to include one more person; she's going to be my wife. I love her,( he glanced at her. )In these years of dating, I got to know she is the most genuine person. I love her, bro; you have to agree."
Meanwhile haseena mind wasn't in present,it was in the past, the horrifying past.
Haseena's mind drifted to the past—a young and beautiful girl eagerly called her dad, excitement gleaming in her eyes. She expressed her intention to come over soon, her father agreeing to the plan. Swiftly driving towards the mansion, her heart raced with anticipation of marrying her lover, Anubhav. "Anubhav, I love you," she whispered to herself.Arriving after an hour, she was greeted with a horrifying sight—her dad lying lifeless, blood staining the floor, with Anubhav holding the gun, wounded but alive. Anger surged within her as she accused him of betrayal. "Anubhav, I never knew you would do this. You took advantage of me, deceived me. I hate you," she spat, her eyes burning with rage. Collapsing to her knees, she demanded answers, questioning why he had done it, what flaw existed in their love.
Anubhav pleaded his innocence, but she paid no heed, ordering the manager to drag him out of the house, condemning him to suffer in jail.
In the present, as she refused the marriage proposal, Anubhav widened his eyes, realizing her tears and the weight of her memories. The tension in the air was palpable, laden with unresolved emotions.
Haseena: "Now, get out of my house."
Ishita: "Di..."
Cutting her off, Haseena sternly said, "I said leave my house."
Sadly, Veer stood up, while Anubhav couldn't bear to see his brother's sadness. "Haseena, you will regret it," he said angrily.
"Let's see," Haseena replied in the same tone.
Veer and Ishita were surprised by their uncharacteristic anger.
Soon, Haseena and Ishita watched as the figures of both men faded away.
"Now, go to your room," Haseena instructed.
"But di..."
"I said go to your room."
Ishita's eyes filled with tears as she obeyed and went to her room.
Haseena collapsed and cried until a deep slumber took over her.she was tired of herself
But sleep remained elusive for some.
Some cursed their fates. Some cursed themselves, some cursed the time.
