"Happy birthday to you," you cringed as your parents gathered around me, "Happy birthday to you."
You tried to tune out the rest of their tone-deaf singing while laughing.
"I can't believe you're finally 18! You've grown into such a wonderful young lady." Your mom exclaimed.
The cake had no candles, for you refused to be around fire after the incident. It had all but ruined you. Jungkook ran off afterwards, and Jin viewed it as an act of terrorism for which he should be punished. Taehyung developed nightmares and he stopped coming to hang out with any of you. Jimin clung to the hope that Jungkook would leave his manor and everything could go back to normal. It had caused such a rift between you and your formerly dearest friends.
As if sensing your thoughts, your mother began with her annual speech. "You should really try talking to them. You guys used to be inseparable, yet you won't tell anyone what happened! Silly little fights aren't worth a 5-year hatred-" "Mom stop. They don't want to talk to me." You cut her off. "And it wasn't just a silly little fight, now can we get back to what this day should be about? Me!"
"Very funny, but you know you'll have to see them in a week. The competition is near." She said, handing you a knife. You shuddered, then pushed the thought out of your head, cutting your first slice.

"Miss Y/n, you... you have a guest here for you." Your maid Anja said from outside your bedroom door. "Tell them to come in." You yelled in response.
"Happy birthday, did you miss me, princess?" A voice said gently while stepping into your room. You froze at the sound, slowly turning to face him.
"Jin?" He'd grown a lot. You used to tease him for being shorter than you, but now he was almost a head taller. He no longer wore glasses, and his hair was a lovely shade of violet now.
"Hey kid, how ya been?" He approached cautiously as if expecting you to explode.
"I-I'm okay. What are you doing here?" You questioned.
"Well seen as how we have to see each other in a matter of days, I figured I'd speed up the reunion I am oh so excited for." He smirked."I had these crafted for you, I don't know if they're still your favourite but it's the big day, had to do something." He handed you a bouquet of glass roses. "Thank you. Do you think Jungkooks gonna show up?" You asked, taking the bouquet while admiring them. Jin was always great with gifts. "He has to. I mean I know he went all crazy after everything went down but, he's not stupid enough to avoid this." Jin said.
"He was always so excited for the battle. He was getting so strong-" "Yea until he killed someone. He probably locked himself away and has refused to use his abilities since. That's what I would have done."
This was always a heated topic for Jin. As the eldest, he was the voice of reason. He had a shockingly strong moral compass that infuriated royals, especially with his habit of 'accidentally' hearing important conversations. Jin grew to become powerful. And not just in his abilities.
"Have you talked to the others yet? Or am I the only one lucky enough to be graced by your presence?" You asked him rolling your eyes.
"Only Taehyung. I don't want to talk to Jimin, he's just as crazy as Sparky." He replied, eliciting a chuckle from you.
"Are you... ready?" You glanced up at the taller man.
"Of course. Now if you'll excuse me, I have to go home. I'll see you when training starts, princess." Jin walked towards the exit. "You know, you've somehow gotten even more beautiful over the years."
